I like elk slightly better, but it is still very good.

I prefer Axis to any venison except maybe Eland. Very mild flavor. Elk is good as well but not compared to Axis.

Good day everyone, I thought I'd share a few of my favorite Axis deer photos. I've been hunting Axis in the Texas Hill country with a rifle and a camera for over 30 years. Incredibly beautiful animals and very, very tasty. I looked back to see if I've posted some of these before but I can't find it if I did so disregard if need be. Take Care, Roland

I didn't realize they could attain such a wide spread, that is impressive. Most I have seen are like the one on the right (not far right ).

Got to give it to the elk, but not by much. Waaay better than whitetail.

It would be difficult to compare Axis to that Alberta mule deer grilled filet mignon. The mule deer where you hunt are fabulous eating!
