Thank you all so much for the good words, this is a great community!Great shooting, congrats and thanks for sharing
Is that a Tikka action ? Barrel ?
So because of the steep angle the bullet passed through the very top of the lungs and didn't do much damage to the internals. The bull dropped instantly because his spine was shattered, unfortunately he required a dispatch shot when I got closer, I really couldn't believe it wasn't an instant kill..Great shot. Nice bull! Tell us about the bullet performance. Did he run far? What did his internals looks like?
Thank you very muchCongrats all around great job n Trophy, wonderfull pic!!! thks for all yur help n work on the 131grain, 25 cal bullets, bbl.'s n info and all your hard work my CONGRATULATIONS!!!
Remember when lining up angled shots to imagine a stright line passing through the animal from entry to exit. Then imagine or pull up a picture of where the vitals are along that line and move it to the appropriate location. So because of the steep angle the bullet passed through the very top of the lungs and didn't do much damage to the internals. The bull dropped instantly because his spine was shattered, unfortunately he required a dispatch shot when I got closer, I really couldn't believe it wasn't an instant kill..
I tried recovering the bullet but the spine was a mess of sharp bone fragments and I gave up digging for it.
I guess one thing I learned is its probably good to hold a little low on upward shots, that way the bullet will travel up through all those vital vs. Passing up through the top.
I planned on using my 7mm on this hunt but I had a scope base issue at the last minute, I would definitely have preferred shooting him with a 180 at that range..
Ha thanks man!And you said you didn't make long shots in Idaho! Nice shooting...
Ha thanks man!
I shot this bull in Montana, kinda wished I had my old 28 Nosler for a minute How's it shooting for you?
