I've been watching for an 8mm barrel. As well as a .204 so I'll keep looking.

That is a very good question !
I have a (1938) Turkish Mauser in 8X57 ..... in perfect working order too, but I have no clue as to what the barrel twist is ..... about 20 years ago I got the Mauser bug and had to have 'em all... got a very nice 1909 Argentine I can rebarrel if needed,
anybody here know what the Turkish Mausers in 8X57mm were twisted at ?
That's great news from CEB! BTW, the famous Frenchman Messner from Alsace is currently working on both totally new 7mm- and 8mmS-rounds for the purpose of Long Range Hunting. That will be strong concurrence. Messner already invented the 6,5 Messner Mag., 8,5 (.338) Messner Mag. and the tremendous .375 Verney Carron. Thinks are improving.Yup !
I have Dan & crew at Cutting Edge addressing my request as we speak !
My request was based on mathematical equations I used to arrive at a theoretical bullet length and weight that produces a bc that is satisfactory for my intended purposes while at the same time will also benefit users of factory chamberings ..
While my 8mm LRH wildcat with a 9 twist barrel can handle a much longer, heavier, higher bc bullet ...
Both Dan and I agreed the initial bullet should be of a length, weight that will be stabilized in standard 10 twist 8mm factory barrels ......
The bullet will be of the MTH (Match Tactical Hunting) design and will have a considerable improvement in bc over all current 8mm (.323") bullets on the market,
Anybody want to start a build on a 8mm Lapua Mag ? Improved ?
If all goes well, I hope to be shooting this bullet well before Barnady, Berler and Spierra ever even bat an eye at the 8mm guys .......
...........
Decent deal. Was hoping for a finished length of 26" instead of 24" for this Shilen but... I'll do some head scratching. I just committed to another Weatherby Mark V.there's a 10 twist Shilen in the classifieds

A local guy is selling a Browning A-Bolt II .325 WSM with a Nikon scope for like $650. Thought about offering him $550 or so, but the only bullet that looks good is the Barnes 200gr TSX. Does anyone make a good BC VLD-style bullet in 8mm for hunting? Also, I know most brownings have a slower than average twist, does anyone know what twists the .325 WSM's came in?
I figured worse case scenario, rebarrel to 7mm SS (same as 6.5 SS, just 7mm) or 7mm WSM.
1 in 10 twist.
Mine runs 200g Accubonds tight and am looking into 220g SGK as the best heavy option. Many are hoping for a long range offering out of Nosler in the future as Berger seems not to be interested at the moment. Saw a few guys ordering 200ish bullets from Cutting Edge.
I find my 325 to be very capable inside of 400 yards and adequate inside of 600. Prefer to pull out the 7 STW for long range.
If going Barnes (200gr Barnes TSX) you should better look after the 160/180gr Barnes T(T)SX instead. Much higher velocity, flatter trajectory and more than enough terminal energy on the other side. The other members on here mentioned good alternatives though as the 200gr AB and the 220gr SGK. So far you are more limited in the USA due to bullet choices in 8mm than we are. For some strange reasons we get the 190gr. Swift Scirocco II over here, which has a decent BC and European products on the same or even better level. CEB bullets in 8mm will be top notch.
For deer I have used 180g ballistic tips with awesome effect.
Her you about brass. There are a couple of bags of new winchester 325 on gun broker fairly regularly if you can stomach 60 bucks a bag. Haven't seen any nosler around for a while.
