7prc or 7mag

Yeah I know it has more case capacity. But I guess I'm just confused on why 7 prc is such a big thing I thought it was supposed to shoot higher bc bullets faster but people are struggling to get 3k with hand loads? Or was it all strictly from a factory stand point?

not much different that the 6.5prc vs 264wm...............pressure is the difference as the prc is roughly 50-60fps slower. i have both due being a 26cal fan and the 6..5prc fits into an AR10 platform. put both @ equal pressures and the 264 wins by a lot.

i'd take a rm over the prc regardless of belt. just stating with/about 2 options given.

You know most of us here think alike. We build custom or semi custom rifles and we reload. We are not the target audience. The guys who buy factory ammo and guns are. That's were the money is. I will give Hornady credit. The 7 prc case was designed with a shorter body and longer neck so the high bc bullets won't be in the powder space like a 7 mag will. So basically the powder volume gets really close. They also saami spec'd it at 8 twist. I think the issues with powder availability have bit them. The factory 175's would clock close to 3k initially.

I just put a Rem 700 ADL 7mm Mag back together. I got it in the middle 70's. Never used it. Just sat in my safe until now. I am trading it for some work on my reloading shack.
Anyway I changed out the stock and went to a BDL setup. Put a 3.5x10x40 Scope on it. Put a triggerTech in it. Had the barrel floated. So it ready to shoot. The serial no's without any A,B,C.D after the number. So it's a good action.
Just about done with my reloading shack "Finally" So I'll be working up loads for the 7MM Mag rifle. I have shot loads in other 7mmMag rifles out of the box and gotten groups at the 1/2" size. We had probably had put a hundred rounds thur it checking for groups.
So it will be interesting to work up loads for it. I will probably only go up too 150gr bullets. I did note from the base to shoulder is shorter than the 300WM case. I hadn't done any shooting with the 7mmRM for my uses. My brother, and other used the caliber for hunting.
Anybody change a 7mm RM to a 7mm/300WM and loading for that. What are the velocity you are getting. I may have the rifle rechamber to 7mmx300WM chamber if I can't get the velocity out of it I want.
Please advise.
