7prc or 7mag

I would worry more about a fierce rifle than which 7magnum. Get a Seekins instead. Have seen issues with the ones I worked with and have heard other reviews of the same. I went 7PRC over the WM for 284 cal. Epsicailly with a shorter barrel. Still shoot the 300 WMs in the belted though.
I was thinking about a seekins too. I'm just not a big fan of how cheap their stock feels, but at least it's bedded to the action. The other nice thing is they have proprietary mags. I feel like if you can't shoot a fierce or seekins it's the shooter not the rifle. I've seen a few reviews of people not getting them to shoot but who knows if the shooter can shoot 1/2 moa because I've also seen a ton of people shooting through the same hole. What was wrong with yours?

has anyone had any luck with a different powder reaching 3k with 7prc? I seen a video of reloading Weatherby getting faster velocities with 180 Bergers out of 7mag im pretty sure they were both 24" barrels too

I love my 7mags. I just had these 2 re barreled and love them. The grey one is shooting 180 Bergers at 2950 and the burnt bronze is shooting 143 McGuires at 3250. I'll stick with my 7mags all day long but I am using a friends reamer that has a little more freebore.
I helped a guy last week sight in his 7PRC my Garmin was 150fps under my 7 mag with same weight bullets. So no thank you and I have plenty of quality brass. Ive done really well with Norma. IMG_9391.jpegIMG_9392.jpeg

Unless somethings changed. My ph1 has the exact opposite of a cheap stock. Main reason I gave up on buying a Ridgeline, soon as I handled one the stock was a no go.

I never owned one. I also never owned a Seekins either. I have help guys out with both and I agree that the Seekins stock doesn't feel right. That said the Fierce seemed cheaply made. I did not like the stock flexibility or barrel to action setup. Just felt and looked off. It would really throw rounds after it heated up and wasn't consistent.
My cousin in law has a Seekins in 7PRC and it is extremely accurate and is shooting lower single digit SDs. It dose come down to shooter and all. My in-law is just getting into long range shooting and shooting excellent with no problems. The guy that had the Fierce was a veteran shooter and no longer has that rifle. After research this all seems the case from Fierce and Seekins. I find myself building on or using factory Tikkas more and more. That or I start from scratch and build it how I want. Soon to set up a 7PRC with Prometheus long action, Bartlein 3B barrel, altitude stock, Hawkins Hunter DBM, And my first Trigger tech trigger. **** Black Friday deals😂

Are you aware that the 7 RM is a larger case than the 7 PRC? Capacity equals speed.

Yeah I know it has more case capacity. But I guess I'm just confused on why 7 prc is such a big thing I thought it was supposed to shoot higher bc bullets faster but people are struggling to get 3k with hand loads? Or was it all strictly from a factory stand point?

This is proof that some people aren't stupid!! I commend you for asking questions and thinking critically without just blindly following whatever someone says! What you are hearing is correct. I have not seen a single PRC that will outrun any of my 7RMs with factory or handloads!!

I'm about to pull the trigger on a fierce carbon rival in one of the 7s but can't decide which one to get. I was wanting a 22" barrel but I've been seeing slow velocities with the 22" so maybe I'll get a 24" instead. What's everyone's experience with velocity in 22" barrels and opinions on 7prc vs 7mag. The fierce comes with 8.5 twist in 7 mag so I'd still be able to shoot heavier bullets
24" barrel and high speed 7mm. Tough call but I think you are barking up the right tree with the PRC. My personal is more along the WSM line. ;)

As for the Fierce. Lots of others know more. I'm a Weatherby guy.
