7mm STW Reloading Thread

This is my target with 4 different charge weights, .3 gr increments. Shot round robin, in a Z pattern till I had 3 in each., except #4 which was over max.

Yea, gimme a day. I didn't bother with that measurement. I just did exactly what ButterBean told me to do. I'll stick a bullet in a case and check.

Took the wife to the range a cpl weeks ago and told her to "send two down to that plate with the red dot on it", 700 yards. The one out of the group is mine.

That awesome rite there Brother

Im just glad you have it and Im glad its working out for you...... it was one of my favorites and calling it The Beast suits it well and Im glad your healed up
It may sound like a small thing, but tonight doing chores I picked up a six gallon water jug with sort of a reverse curl grip and loaded it into the back of the truck without thinking. Just as I let go of it, it dawned on me that it was the first time in over a year I could do such a simple thing. I've probably got 80% of the strength back that I had prior to the first injury (tore loose biceps head).

Barely one year after the very ugly broken Humerus on the same arm (same place it was reattached actually) that's a huge step forward.

I gave it a good home as promised and I may give it a bit of a makeover before next season by having the cerakote redone.

What else can I say man, it was everything you said. It shoots the old factory 160gr Winchester Supreme Failsafe's so well it's scary and everything I've fed it (factory) so far will shoot close to or better than MOA at 200yds.

Will do Brother M. I was going to call you and make sure we got the details worked out Monday anyhow so good timing!

Doug, I can't get an accurate distance to the lands for the 140 TSX. The bullet either sticks and pulls out or the end of case falls into one of the pressure grooves.
Personally, I didn't worry about it. I set the bullet to Beans OAL then measured to ogive with a comparator and went with it.

Thanks for trying. I'll probably just give it a shot at your OAL since I haven't had much luck getting an accurate load with the 140 TSX. If I get something decent, I may play with the seating depth a little afterward.

Start with 78gr of RL25 @ 3.625 coal and work up from there it should come to you between there and 80gr depending on what tube you are using

Thank you Mr Bean. I didn't see your post until this morning and I loaded up some test rounds last evening. I set the COAL at 3.64 and, ironically, started at 78gr of RL25 moving up in 1 gr increments to 81. Figured it was a good place to start.
I have a Rem 700 with a 24" barrel and 1:9.25 twist. It shoots the Nosler factory ammo in 140gr Partition and 160gr Accubond very well. Using Barnes data, I worked up a nice load for the 150gr TTSX with 74.0 gr of IMR 4350 and COAL 3.68. Gave me a cloverleaf at 100 yards. Chronograph 3272 fps average.
From what I've read on this thread, you are the man when it comes to the STW and finding the magic loads. So, any and all advice would be appreciated.

Thanks!
Doug
