7mm STW Brotherhood - For those who shoot the 7mm Shooting Times Westerner

Post a few pics, I might be interested. Have him pull the bolt out too and photograph the face. If it is the pre-64 great, but I doubt it because the 7stw wasn't around then. If it is the controlled round push feed, a (super shadow) made between late 2003-2006, it's the best action Winchester may have ever made, my opinion. I just bought a 7WSM with that action and paid $515 net on gunbroker. An STW version would be worth a tad more because of the long action. but probably no more than $625 unless it had a DBM set up and trigger, then add a bit more. This is my opinion as I shop Gunbroker daily for stuff and always look up 7stw, 7wsm and 300 wsm & Ruger No.1's.

Tons of deals there. If he were patient, he could ask for more and just wait. Someone typically comes around for stuff like this after awhile.

If you want another win m70 claw extractor barrel, i have one. I bought it online, i thought it was push feed. My mistake. Let me know. Blued 26" no break, but threaded.

Ok Y'all here are 7STW's targets from the Sharpshooter and the new build.....Awesome guns and Awesome shooting

Nice groups, but did you change elevation setting? You are 2.5 high at 100 and 1.5 low at 200. Do you know your velocity? 2.5 high at 100 at 7stw velocities should keep you near 2" high at 200.

If you changed point of aim, no problem, or maybe these are your starting loads and you are working up velocity?

these cases are in the 6-8 times fired. The necks were getting harder than the back of my head so I have started annealing them. I figured they would eventually give up.

I smoked the shoulders and I now have the die set at .002 to .003 and it appears to be repeating there.

6-8 times? Nothing lasts 6-8 times. After 4 you should have to duct tape the primers in.

Just want to throw a handup at my parter in crime 7STW for the JB weld and Pam cooking spray lesson......No more glass and release agents for me.......But the Pam with olive oil made me hungry so about ate myself into a coma waiting on the JB to cure:D.......Thanks Brother

Make sure you scrub that gun before you go to Kodiak country. You may smell like an irresistible meal.

160 Grain Nosler AccuBond:
Muzzle Velocity: 3305 fps
Muzzle Energy: 3882 ft. lbs

Those are some pretty fast/hot loads and I would like to see if I could duplicate them.

I talked to them today and they told me they could not disclose what powder they are using but it is nothing exotic and the ordinary reloader has access to the same powder.

Also, has anyone shot their factory ammo? If so, any feedback?

Thanks!

I have driven the 162s to 3250 in a 24 inch barrel with 7828 and that is as hard as I think they can (not should) be pushed. If they are using a 26" or longer barrel for testing then I think it is totally possible. I just bought some rl25 for further experimentation with the 162s. I really think that AMax bullet is the ticket 625 bc at over 3200 fps. As i have stated earlier, this is a hunting gun and brass life is not my goal. I load 300 at a time for the rifle and i think that will outlive me. I use other guns and loads for messing around. This one is a weapon of mass harvestation.

Amax bullets? Are these hunting bullets or target? I wonder how they work on game?

I keep hearing both ways on that bullet, but they shoot well, and resemble a BT, when you cut one open. ( I have). I am going to give them a try in July, along with some TSX' s. I am sick of making hamBerger.

Love it!!!! hamberger..... rofl
Exactly why I use Hornady or Nosler.
I'm wondering if the 171 gr. matchburners I've got are the same way. I.e. little pointed grenades when they hit. Any thoughts?? Whack 'em with the 140 accubond or hit em with a matchburner?? I'm a bit torn on this one. I'm shooting mule deer this year.

Those targets were not sight in targets. That was when I was just doing some group shooting, just to see HOW it would group. The tagged shot with the sendero build, was its first time out. The Winchester, is shooting awesome. I switched powders to check something, got GREAT accuracy, but was low at 200. Neither one is really sighted in yet. But I know what each one will shoot. I shot two back to back groups with the new build, this last Sunday, that measured in the .3's, using 154 Hornady Spire points.

The winchester LOVES 140 TSX,s. I am really having good luck with RL25. no chrono numbers yet. Temps are getting to warm now for good info.

That makes sense. I was worried you were missing A lot of powder if both targets had the same sight in.

Ill be testing the AMAX on mule deer and possibly an elk this fall in Colorado. I used the ssts last year because my local gun guy messed up on the order. The bullet performed well, it just isnt as efficient as the AMAX. Ill let you all know the terminal info when i can.
