The 168's were shooting very well over 72.6gr of H-1000. I didn't do any work up for it, that was just the same load that shot well in my old 700 so you could probably get more velocity out of it with a little tinkering.Cool. I'll try it one I get my room ready!!!
Thanks
Id sure trade just about anybody N570, for RL-26. Ive got more N570 than I'll ever use, and I've been unsuccessful in getting any RL-26 for 2 1/2 yrs. I've gotten where I buy way too much of anything I can manage to get my hands on. I ran 3200 fps with 180 VLD's N570 in my STW, which ultimately led to a rebarrel. Throated for 195's Worst thing I could have done, and I should have known it doesnt work out that well and still be able to cycle in a extended mag box.Ok 7stw gurus, I have a bunch of 168 vldh. In want to try in my 7stw.
Also have a lot of rl26, as well as 7828, h1000, rl22, but those not a much.
Anyway, looking good see what has worked in your STWs with that bullet.
Not interested in burning up a lot of powder or bullets the way things are right now.
Just looking for some feedback and a starting point
TIA
I'd have to go break into the ammo locker to count but I generally have a pile of RL26 on hand. If we could figure out a way to swap it out I'm sure I could spare a few lbs in exchange. WIth all the magnums I load for I'm sure the N570 would work fine for some of them.Id sure trade just about anybody N570, for RL-26. That's why I shoot a lot of RL33. H1000 is usually far less sensitive to small changes but RL33 will almost always give me higher velocities for the same or lower pressures.I just tried some of my old 180 Bergers and some rl33 I bought last month. Did a pressure test at 200 yards, half grain increments. Powder charges of 82.0 thru 83.5 gr were in a 1/2 moa group, bullet seated .010 off the lands.
Id sure be interested. I've got 4-5 unopened 1# cans that I got last year, and then I ended up getting another 8 #'s. I use a good bit of N570 but I really dont need as much as I've got. That RL-26 is about the hardest thing I've tried to get and I've pretty much given up on it at this point. I'd have about as much luck hunting Bigfoot. RL26 gives me the highest velocities across the board but it's a bit more temperamental than either RL33 or H1000 to really get a load tuned just right.
I never shot any RL25 myself. I would have probably never strayed from H-1000 at all except for the fact there was a period I couldn't find any and was desperate to get some 300wm loaded and had been reading some good things about both RL26 and 33.I bought retumbo and h1000 last week. I had 20# of rl25 so I've been force feeding this rifle a diet of that for a lot of years.
I'm certainly willing, the issue is getting it from here to there and back. I haven't inventoried but everything is packed up to move and I have a 5'x2'x2' steel locker full of various powders so I'm sure there's at least 2-4lbs of RL26 I could spare.Id sure be interested.
