7mm STW Brotherhood - For those who shoot the 7mm Shooting Times Westerner

Ok 7stw gurus, I have a bunch of 168 vldh. In want to try in my 7stw.

Also have a lot of rl26, as well as 7828, h1000, rl22, but those not a much.

Anyway, looking good see what has worked in your STWs with that bullet.

Not interested in burning up a lot of powder or bullets the way things are right now.

Just looking for some feedback and a starting point

TIA
I'm putting 82grains of H1000 behind the 168 VLD, 3020 fps clover leaf group at 200 yd
My gun is a off the shelf Rem. 700

Hict1, while there are gurus agong us here , it still behoves each and every reloader to have back up knowledge of all the powders he or she has available to them . Members should remember what components they have and include that information in their posts that way the it's easier to help answer questions. You can catch more bees with honey then vinegar. Ok you listed your powders that a good start primers matter ,brass matters because it has different volumes ,powders have many different burning speeds , barrel length matters ,hope you catch my Drift , are you a newbie reloader, maybe not but then you should understand there's hundreds of reload combinations that could work , this is not to offend anyone, but it expeadates the answer , if your an experienced reloader and you don't have any reloading data on RL-26 for example I get that but the information is printed and out there . All your powders will work but how good of a reloader would you rate yourself, fair, medium, very good ,Excellent ?. If you don't agree with me that's fine , I just see so many posts asking for the Magic combos ,and I ask myself are these people that lacking of persistence and passion that they can't find it on their own . For the record I've had 3 stws, down to 2now . Cheers !.

JJ....I've been reloading since 1980....

Anyway, I do believe in the OBT theory. As an engineer, I understand the physics behind it.

Some combos, are a waste of time.

My 7stw magic load is 7828 under a 160 partition or accubond. I have a bunch partitions loaded. 3200 and sub .5".

I asked for pointers using 168 vldh, as I have a bunch, and never tried them in my stw.

As I pointed out, I'm not interested in burning up a bunch of powder or bullets in these times.

It's been my experience, that there are certain combos that work across multiple rifles....see the comment on OBT...

For instance 60 h4831 and a 130 in a 270.

62 of h4831 and a 140ab in a 280ai....4 for 4 so far, soon to be 5 for 5.

Countless others i can quote.

I appreciate the response, but I'm a little more knowledgeable than you envisioned.

Thanks

H1000 will serve you well

7828 has been a let down for me bought enough to last a while and have yet to find a good load with it. I had way better results with imr 8133. Retumbo or h1000 is on the docket next. Running low on 168's now is the issue.
