7mm STW Brotherhood - For those who shoot the 7mm Shooting Times Westerner

Doug, back when this awesome thread began, myself, and Butterbean, were using almost the same identical load, which included the Nosler, ballistic silvertip. Moly coated. They used to be a better constructed bullet then now, and I mean to tell you, it were as if lightening struck them. Long dead before they hit the dirt. Then they changed ythe jacket thickness, or guilding, metal strength. Then they would blow.
I went through a period where I was looking for something that would stay together. Long story short, without bullet bashing, settled on the Barnes. If yours shoots the 150, then it will love the 145lrx.
I checked out those Hammers earlier, on their website. Very impressive. Steve is a great guy.

A lot of good info on this site,I read over everything here before I decided on the STW,I am sure glad I bought it!Now everyone at the range with the big custom jobs want to shoot it.For me,Bean,it just started!!!Long live the 7STW!!!!

With the break on it,it doesn't have much recoil,but the thing sure has a big bark.It scared all the young pups with their SKSs away!

I will say this on bullet selection and bear in mind I have not shot them out of the STW but as of this minute the Hornady ELD X is my go to bullet .... the 7mm 162gr has a BC of .630 and the terminal performance out of my 308 is unreal ..... just saying they may be worth lookin at

I'm not a fan of the 162gr ELDX. I spent a lot of time with them and a 7mm of mine and never achieved consistency. After checking different box's for Ogive comparison there were inconsistencies quite often amoungs them. Bear in mind I have not tried them in the STW. I have 3-4 boxes for sale if anyone wants give them a try.

Well that's disappointing to hear but thanks for the info...... I would have never guessed it but like 7STW said Nosler screwed up the 140 CTs

I'm confused with Hornadys line up, do they still mske the amax, or is it being phased out, sand the ELD, line to take over?

My kids seven mag, used to shoot 162 A Maxes, like crazy. I just got it back together, so I'll be looking for some. Or, ELD!
I've not heard anything bad on them though.

Alright, I'm with ya now! Took me a minute to catch up, but yeah, I've shot those, and they were inpressive. I was already set up for another bullet, but I tried them, just for giggles, and you know the rest. They shot great, less then 1/2 inch, I believe.

When the Interbonds ran out I went to the 140 Berger Hunting VLDs and they were dang accurate in my 1 in 11 Christensen. I wish I would have been more knowledgeable about barrel twist and bullet weight when I had them re-barrel the rifle long ago.

7stw, I bet you're right and the 145 lrx would be a great bullet in my rifle.
Just got my rifle all set up and started the load development after finishing the break in. All looks promising!! The photo is the rifle with the new Carbon Six barrel.

Dude, that thing is giving me goosebumps. It looks like she 'll shoot whatever you feed her.

Looks like you've done your homework, planned your work, and worked your plan as I say.
