7mm STW Brotherhood - For those who shoot the 7mm Shooting Times Westerner

I am changing my stw to a 7mm-300 because I have spent too much money trying to get it to shoot. so I am getting rid of the ammo and brass I have ,There is a total of 49 Remington 140gr factory loads. And a total of 35 federal 160 grain new factory ammo. And a total of 47 in the Winchester boxes. But it looks like it may be reloads. I also have about 100 brass it is 2 fired I think Norma or nozler. Text for pics or more info. 559-936-8837

You have to do what you have to do.... I ask you this though, why would you go to a wildcat with slightly lesser performance when you are already shooting a 7stw??? If you don't like your current barrel, simply re-barrel to 7stw again. I'd go 8" twist so you can shoot any heavy in 7mm, while still shooting well with mid weight bullets.

This isn't the classified adds.... If you want to sell your stuff quickly should you decide to stay with your 7x300 idea, I'd think about posting there too. This thread has gone a bit stale as of late.

Boxman, is all the ammo you have tested factory production ammo, or somebody else's reloads?

If you do not reload, the 7mm-300 WM is a wildcat cartridge (not SAAMI), and nobody offers factory ammo for it. It will require handloads and proper load workup.

Also, not trying to undermine, but have you tried a proper ladder-test with the same lot of bullets, at the same OAL, but slowly working up your powder charges to find a solid and repeatable accuracy node?

Boxman, before you go that route, I would suggest you pay attention to the 3 posters above. They know how to speak "STW". I'm sure if you decide to give your STW another go, they can help you get it shooting. They need some info on your setup to give an informed opinion. Please give make & model, barrel length & twist, approx. round count and more details about what ammo & groupings you fired. JMO, but it is a great round. Disregard if you've made up your mind.

I shot this nice/big (it weighted more than 200 pounds) eight point buck this past Monday with one of my twin Remington 700 Sendero SF 7mm STWs.

It was a 120 yard neck shot from my tree stand at my parents farmland and woods in WV. The buck acted like it got hit by lightning and just fell over dead! :)

The last picture is my Dad with the buck. Since I am disabled, he helped me get it out of the woods. He was really pleased for me. He is quite a hunter himself and has shot 100's of deer over his hunting life.

Tell momma you and the little Q's need to come see Uncle Charlie for a few days.

We can even get it processed here before you go home.

We could have shot a pickup full at the front gate when I came out after finishing chores this evening.
