I got lucky and stole mine off of gunbroker a year or so ago. It wasn't advertised as a sendero, so I think that's why I got it cheap. (has the muzzle brake too )

Love it! Mine looks just like the one on gunbroker, with the exception of mine has the holes all the way around. I haven't shot it prone yet, so I'm sure that its going to make a heck of a mess when I torch a round off.

Mine has a Vias Muzzle brake and they sure do make a dust cloud. When Shooting prone at targets, I will lay down some Card board or under the muzzle area and It keeps the dust down. Some times I'll stake it down to keep the wind from picking it up. When out in the field hunting, I've never been in a position where it has picked up dust even when shooting prone. Just lucky I guess.

So yall are liking the Vias brakes? I have been debating on one for when I rebarrel my A-Bolt II 7Mag. I think I'm gonna stick a Douglas XX-Match grade Sendero Contour 1:9 on it. The factory barrel isn't performing 1-hole groups like I was anticipating with ANY of my handloads. I can get nice tight cloverleafs, but still not reaching my expectations. I will probably just rebarrel it for now, and hold off on my .280 AI custom, until next year when hopefully money will be better. A barrel, chambering, and bedding is ALOT cheaper than buying all the other crap I would need to do my custom build.

This is a great thread! I'm new to the STW world, I've got a line on some federal 160 grain factory ammo, any opinions? I'm set up to reload for mine , have 100 rnds of rem brass right now. Getting great groups with 75 grains of H 1000 and hornady sst 154's. any advice would b appreciated!

Welcome to the STW, and to the Brotherhood...

You should give the Berger 168 VLD's and H1000 powder combo a try.

Also, mine loves the Berger 180 VLD's & H1000, and Nosler 160 Accubonds and Alliant Reloder 19, and Reloder 22.

Those are all the ones I've tested so far. And so far I've had good success with those bullet and powder combo. Also, I would bet that with the 160 Accubonds, H1000 would work great, but I haven't tried it yet.

Thanks mudrunner! The smith that built it for me is a fan of the 168 Bergers but they were not spectacular for me. Tested 5 loads and this one is the best so far. Not seeming to positive on the federal brass here so just wondering if its worth my time, anyone have any accuracy concerns etc. I doubt it would shoot as well as what I'm loading but I've got a line on 2 cases of it!

I've been reloading with nothing but Federal brass for my STW since I started reloading. And I have some loads that shoot 1-hole groups out my rifle, with Federal brass. Only recently did I break-down and buy some Nosler Custom brass...But it still hasn't come in yet. Might need to call Mike to see where my brass is... LOL

If you can come across any Federal nickle-plated brass that is some excellent stuff. I have about 45-50 pieces of that sitting at home (bought it used, once-fired for about $0.45-$0.50 each for them). Smokin deal, since I can't seem to come across much Fed nickle-plated STW. I have also had excellent luck with the Winchester nickle-plated brass for my 7mm RemMag. Hornady makes good brass, too. I have a stock-pile of Hornady Match .308 brass that I use for load development, and it handles fairly hot handloads like a champ.

Federal, Brass including the Nickle Plated brass is not the very good at all(IMO) ..... Its way to soft and flows a bunch but if thats what you have just work it easy and just bump the shoulder and you will get a few firings out of it .......hang around here and some Rem Brass will show up......And if your gonna hunt with it, The HamBerger bullets Get Mixed reviews out of the STW ......Personally I Wont use them again but thats just me..........Welcome Aboard

As was mentioned, Welcome to the Hood. Of all the brass out there, the Federal brass just won't hang around long. It is very soft, and it seems to loose it neck tension real quick.
Your Remington brass will give you more bang for the buck, ( pardon the pun). If you ever do run across any Winchester brass, that stuff is GOLD. Me personally, I have had the best accuracy, and longevity.
I really like the 154 Hornadys. As a matter of fact, I shot a few that I had loaded for this past deer season , this past Saturday. They shoot like a dream. Mine are the original Spire points, with the cannelure.
My personal favorite bullet at this time is the Barnes 145 LRX, or the 140 CT. Each person who owns and shoots the STW hs to pick and choose the right bullet, for the game to be had. Sometimes you will find a bullet that shoots well, BUT, performs horribly on game. Or, one that works well on target, but isn't consistent on paper. Both of which will create a lack of confidence when you squeeze the trigger. The three bullets I just mentioned work well for ME, and I hope that you will also find a perfect match for both accuracy, and terminal performance. And especially now, when the ones you REALLY want aren't to be found anywhere! Lots of good folks here, and boat load of experience too! Welcome Aboard!

Some say Federal is good, some say bad. Mine lasted 4-5 loads before they started splitting. And my buddy had issues with his Remington 300 WM brass growing really rapidly.

I think it's just a hit or miss kinda thing.
