Going to ask some specifics on this one. Looking for some info for loading and gun used for a 7mm-08 with the likes of as low as 150, 162, 175 ELDX or something like the Berger 168 , and 175 VLD ,,,...the 150, 160 accubond,,,....the 150 to 175 accubond long range. I also know the bullet are hard to come by but if the info is out there its would be nice to share. Just so no one has to post this every time I know to start out low and work up on any load...each gun will act different, cause no 2 barrels are alike and I appreciate all the info very much and if anyone has info on how the bullet preformed on game at a given range would be an added bonus. I'm also trying to see if the difference in a 22 to 24 inch barrel is going to be a big enough difference to manner and I do understand different barrels can be faster than others. Thanks for any info available.

I have tried several different powders in my 7mm-08 and I keep coming back to Varget with 150 gr. AB bullets.

Thanks for the results. I've been looking at the 7mm-08 as a fun gun to shoot but after looking at some of the best powders (velocity) and loads Hodgens listed. it can be a much more capable short action gun for taking large game at some medium to longer ranges. Mainly the 6.5starball powder and I wonder if RL26 or 23 can wake up the 7mm-08 like it does the Creedmore.

I ve had great luck with H4350 and 160 grain class bullets. 2700 FPS out of 24" barrel. High BC bullets in this weight range make it very capable. I would think R16 would give similar performance; possibly a tad more velocity.

I got a deal on 500 Nosler 185 gr ROF bullets, I found Win 760 work good in my Ruger American, both my wife's 18 in barrel and my 22 in barrel. I load them to fit the mag. Which be too short for this super long bullet but still keep them under 3/4 in.
not a good hunting bullet but great for banging steel.

Well I finally pulled the trigger on getting a new rifle today. I picked up a Begara B14 ridge in 7mm-08. Going to set this up with a 20MOA rail and something probably in the 4x16X?? possibly in a Vortex. I hope to run the 175 ELDX, 175 Elite hunter, or the 162,ELDX, or the 168 VLD. I would like to do the 175's. If I can 2600fps and a stable load that would make this a really nice rig. I have some Staball powder and need to find some brass. I do have some virgin 308 Brass that I have never loaded that I can resize. I also picked up my reloading dies. I plan on putting a brake on it since its threaded. Hopefully it will be a good steal banger and a light kicking long range rig within reason. It will be my first 7mm cal and should fill a gap in the group of other rifles I have. I mostly have had 26inch heavy barrel rifles so this may be more fun to carry in the woods. The other thing is I can also shoot some of those light grain weight loads also

Similar, 2664FPS over H4350 and a 22" tube w/ 160 accubonds.

7mm-08 is an underrated cartridge. Extremely accurate. The factory ammo available cripples it IMO. It will shoot those 160-170 class for sure, not sure on the bullets above that as far as velocity and twist rate. To wake it up though, you need to reload for that cartridge. As stated above, we got 160 accubonds 2664 FPS out of H4350 in a 22" barrel.
