welcome iv run it from 3500 to 4k all been the same out to 600 yds!thx, just wanted to ensure the .30 wasn't at 223ish speeds
I think you are fine for typical ranges inside of 300. I wouldn't advise any long range shot with a .22 cal bullet.
I've taken a couple Mule deer with a .223 from 150-250 yards. Neither made it more than 100 ft from impact.Gotcha, what 22 cal CF's have you used on big game and at what ranges?
I kill them out to 600 yds all the time with 70-83gr hammers in my custom 22s!I think you are fine for typical ranges inside of 300. I wouldn't advise any long range shot with a .22 cal bullet.
The 70hh kills deer just fine out to 500/600 yds! I like my impacts speeds 2000 fps and above, im normally running them 3700 to 4k fps depending on which rifle. Thats the great thing about a hammer they shed there petals at 4k all way down to 1800 fpsThanks, I've used a 6/06 a ton load (went thru 2 barrels) and I've been using my 22/250 since 1978. I do prefer to keep my 223 to sub 300 but with the 22/250 I feel comfy to a fair bit longer ranges as my experience tells me that it works great out to 500.
I have a bit thicker of a resume when it comes to this 22 cf killing than most. I was mainly curious as to who had used the 70 Hammer.
In the last 4 or 5 years between my wife and I we've taken 38 head of small big game (deer/lopes/blackbuck) from 35 yards to 400. All with the 60 Horn HP out of our 22/250. All one shot kills, 36 of the 38 went straight down (no CNS shots, just behind the front). The 2 that ran were a muley buck that went 10 yards off a cliff (shot was at 35) and a smallish whitey doe at 120 yards. She ran about 25 yards and augered in...
got a buddy who swears by the hammer bullets-really think if you just put the shot in the right spot the caliber/bullet don't matter that much within reasonable parameters...
