Anybody here built a 7prcw as a hunting set up? I've got an 8.5t #3 Bart on deck to become a prcw or straight 7prc. I'm after consistent long term accuracy vs speed. Is there any reason to go straight 7prc? I expect to see 2700-2850fps with 22"-24" barrel and 162-175grain projectiles.

I would think it would be nearly identical to a 7 saum?
One benefit I can see is better availability and options for brass if your not worried about head stamp

ADG make brass ready to go, but necking up Lapua is another good option if you don't mind donuts. 284 brass is getting harder to find and I already have a naked tikka magnum action sitting in the safe. The only thing I'm still on the fence about is dies. I don't want to spend $400 on a set of dies. Thinking a 6.5prc die with correct bushing for sizing and just use a 7prc seating die. Not sure if that will work or not hopefully someone here knows more.
Thanks

Bushing dies should work and use a mandrel for neck.
Somebody is making dies, might be at Creedmore Sports or Alpha Munitions.
Take a peek at Accurate Shooters Forum.
Most are Br shooters and have information on that cartridge.

Necking up usually does not leave a donut.
Hope this helps. 👍

The reason the target guys go with the prcw off the smaller 6.5 prc case is because it's a sweet spot for case capacity and velocity and Lapua makes 6.5 prc brass. The magnum size 7 prc case is more recoil if you use the extra case capacity. That's an issue for a target shooter but not a hunter. If it's for hunting just go 7 prc.
