6mm arc

I want to get a 6mm arc bolt gun.
It's between the savage switchback and the Ruger american Gen II.
Not a whole lot of reviews that I can find on the Ruger.
Any help is appreciated, thanks.

The Ruger should be a touch more refined than the savage. Only knock I have against a savage is their fit/finish. They shoot fine, have good enough triggers, the nicer models have decent stocks, pre-fit barrels are available. I just don't like the looks of them, classic ford/chevy/dodge debate.

Thanks, but it won't stay in the factory stock long. I will get a chassis for which ever one I chose
I guess it comes down to which one has the better barreled action

both are in the same price range, both have adequate aftermarket support, savage might be a little better. fit and finish might go slightly to Ruger but accuracy has to go to savage.

pick the one that is available locally. my choice would be savage.

Another option would be the Howa Mini for a lightweight, compact rig. A fine rifle and there are a few aftermarket stocks available. That said, my friend just picked up one of the new Ruger Americans with the twist fluted barrel and I was pleasantly surprised how nice it was.

I have a 6 ARC gas gun and a 6 Creedmoor bolt rifle. If I was doing it over, I would not have bothered with the 6 ARC. It has taken me years of playing with it off and on to get everything straightened out with the reloading and function and I'm still not super happy with it. I only get about 2550 for a velocity node with a temp stable powder and 105s, and with 95s I'm at about 2720 for the velocity node.

I have a homemade gas gun in 6arc and have it dialed in. I love this round so much I decided I needed a bolt gun to have some "science" to compare with the gas gun. I bought the Ruger Gen2 and it shot Hornady Match MOA right away!!!! I love the cartridge, and I love that Gen 2. I can't wait to get some loads made up for it!

I have a Savage Axis which a low price gun thats shoots great with reloads, and Howa 1500 mini action that came in a chassis. The Howa with reloads doesn't group as good as the Savage. Or mine doesn't, but I'm still working to find the load it liked. But for the $$$ the Savage is hard to beat and it shoots great.

Your review helped me decide on a caliber in the mini. Its a neat rifle.

Did you add a bolt knob to yours? For my setup Im always nearly ripping a thumb nail off when workin fast. Lol

I had a first gen RA. I liked it a lot but it sounded like a Transformer when working the bolt. It went back to the factory twice. First before i even shot it noticed the stock wasnt torqued but bolt was tight.

Second time was when it died a early death after only 8 months when the bolt stop gave out allowing the bolt to ram into the action and trigger. Ruger took care of me.
Was a bummer as it was accurate as heck and fun to shoot.

Yes it very much a gun you don't move fast with the bolt. I like the rifle but just haven't found the right load for but still working on that once I get it back from the gunsmith as he is working on the trigger.

Yes i meant in comparisons to other bolt rifles I have run past or present. Its slow!

I looked into it and one poster on a forum said something like, its built so small they gave up smoothness in mechanics which leads to loss in bolt manipulation speed.

I asked Coldboremiracle because Ive watched his videos for years now and know he can and does run a bolt gun fast.

What bullet(s) ya wantin to run?
