Does anyone on here have any experience with the 6.8 SPC? I will be reloading for it in the near future. I have reloading data for it, but I am curious as to what others have been able to achieve out of their rifles

I shoot several AR's in 6.8 SPC. Currently a 12.5" and a 16". Both have ARP barrels. I settled on AA2200 as my go to powder for 90gr Speer Gold Dots and 95gr Barnes TTSX's. I have shot allot of coyotes and Rockchucks with my 12.5" since it's always banging around in a truck with me. I smoked a decent Muley ( Weak a_s fronts on his left side) with my 16". Shot was about 260 yards, got a complete pass through.

AR Performance barrels have always shot well. I have two in 6.8 SPC and a few others. 6.5x6.8 SPC, .224 Predator (.22 Grendel) .

110 accubond are also very good for deer--- if you get more advanced into loading for the cartridge then 130gr fusion bullets work great for longer range hunting and 130 vld for target but you have to load long and use unconventional powders.

The 90 gr gold dot and 95gr ttsx are great hog and white tail loads and the 90gr tnt are great target and varmint bullets

Very nice! What kind of velocities are you getting out of the 16" AR? I guess it's a more capable cartridge than what I thought! I was kinda skeptical and wondering if I should have gone with a different cartridge

There is a 6.8 forum. Lots of good load data. AA2200 is the most popular and fastest powder but it is temperature sensitive. Dont load max loads in cool weather and shoot in hot weather. The 123 gr sst is a good bullet as is the 100 gr accubond. +1 on ARP barrels. Use an adjustable gas block to tune the cycling.

Adjustable gas blocks were making me crazy! Constantly tuning them with different loads and with and without a suppressor attached. I went back to standard gas blocks. I picked up Bootleg adjustable bolt carrier groups and things got real simple, real quick.

They say they are supposed to be used for 5.56/.223. I have been using them in 6.8 SPC, 6mm ARC, 6x45 and .224 Predator. Without any issues.

16" ----
90tnt- 2830
95ttsx- 2830
110ab-2730
120sst- 2470
130 fusion- 2520

20"----loaded long
130 fusion- 2690
130 vld- 2760
Cohunt, mind sharing which powders you used in the fusion 130gr and 130gr vld loads? What was your coal?
thanks

2.355" in the 20" , 2.350" in the 16"
LVR powder In both--- gotta have cut out magazines and possibly modify the magwell and feed ramp depending on your actual AR

68forums has quite a few threads on loading long and mods that help

Try CFE223?
Yea, Xman there has done alot of work.
Have a few bolt guns, so was curious. Have a few shorter 130s on hand I may play with.

...after some thinking, may give alliant 15.5 a try with the 130s . Not sure what the max coal will be with the savage magazine.

I built my first 6.8 in 2011. Nowadays, AA2200 is all you need. And it's usually under 300 a jug and in stock. Any mag primer will work. When the 120 sst came out, everyone swore by it. I believe PRI are the mags to use for a reloader. Cavity back bullets were a big help to the 6.8 in the middling years where it could have become a failed cartridge, they have mags and great bullets for the 6.8.

I also stick with a high 20s charge of AA2200 under the 90gr gold dot, but I don't see many to be found for purchase. The 110 vmax can work in similar roles to the 60gr vmax in 223 AR rifles.

You won't regret it, but remember it's not a hot rod. If your single feeding long 130s for some reason, build a bolt action. Or dont and enjoy the single feed, your gun your fun brother!

My favorite loading is the sb 110 pts. Killed some whitetail with it and its a fantastic proj.. Ive also used the 105 cavity back. Some of my best blood trails have been from a sst, though in 762x39.

When the weather passes, time to test the arp barreled savage.

The 110 it's factory ammo is not only very accurate but deadly in all my 6.8's

I have not tried cfe223--- x-man and I bounced some reload data back and forth on the long loaded 130's-- but most of my 130 data stems from his hard work--- heck Harrison even pressure tested some of x-mans loads to make sure they were within pressure specs and safe --- it's been quite a while since I've been on that forum but there is a ton of good info if you shift through the other slobber and bickering

You don't need to single feed a semi auto 6.8 loaded long-- but you do need to mod the mags (cut out) and tweak the feed lips, and possibly even mod the mag well and feed ramp depending on how long you intend to load

Loading heavy/long 130 grain bullets in the 6.8 semi auto takes some knowledge, patience, and research--- 68forums would be the best place to start
