6.5x47 Lapua and 123 gr Absolute Hammer

Something isn't right. I'm getting a very comfortable and excellent accuracy with 129 ABLR @ 2922fps out of my 6.5x47 with a 22" rock creek barrel. You should be able to easily break 3000fps with the 123 AH.

Peterson brass is anything but soft so I don't think that's your issue.

What action is this on the 6.5x47
This one is a trued/blueprinted 700 SA. My other 6.5x47 is a RBros build on a defiance. The RBros runs a 130 Berger hunting right at 3000 FPS with 42.2 gr of H4350. It wears a 26" broughton. I think on the 700 action I could get more speed. But I just used my old 130 Accubond load and it works great, so I haven't bother tweeting this load.

I did some searching and found some instances where folks were getting early pressure signs with light loads on some Peterson brass, and it appeared that the outermost (very thin) layer of brass on the case head is soft, but the rest is plenty stout. So… I Emailed Peterson today, and sent them pics and the below response is what I received.

@ButterBean @BEEMAN @ZReed85

Very interesting. Proceed with caution and keep us updated. Those 123 should fly with the right juice pushing them.

Will do! I agree 100%, that's why I found 2800 fps to be a bit odd. It sounds like with them being so nonchalant about it, that there may be some truth to the soft exterior brass layer.
