6.5 PRC with Berger 144 Hybrid

When you opened them up did you find you had to modify the stated BC? Does anyone know if there's a graduated BC on these?
.8% reduction, tested out past 1500 yards. I have found the same in the .257" 131 BJ, 6.5mm 142 SMK, 6.5mm 150 SMK, 7mm 183 SMK, 7mm 190 LR Hyb, and .308" 208 LR Hyb. Any of the pointed meplats I open, I automatically just reduce by .8% now, and drops have been dead on out to 1500.

Hey guys Peterson is releasing their 6.5 PRC brass to Grafs in the next few days. I called and spoke with Peterson today. You're able to order it now at Grafs and they will not charge your card until they ship it. I ordered earlier today. You can order bulk of 500, or boxes of 50. This is their first run so I only ordered a 100 to test. Nice they started making it also. They also show 300PRC but I did not confirm that's being shipped.

I'm using it with the 144s. Getting 2950 fps but I think I have a really tight barrel. Even factory loads in my rifle were slower than other PRCs I've seen. Seems temperature stable as I have used it in PA when it's 23 degrees and in AZ when it's 85-90.

I'm using 58.2 grains. I would start around 54-55 grains and work up. I've ready others that are using around 56 grains with good results.

Here's a picture showing the tip of the 144 Hybrid before and after opening it up. (Thanks Lance!)
The other picture is a comparison between the 144 Hybrid and a 140 VLD that has not had the tip opened up. The 140 is on the right and is actually bigger so I don't think opening the 144 to 0.040 will cause it to blow up.

Please keep us updated on the terminal performance of the 144. I want to try the 144 & 153.5 if they will expand reliability. Its my understanding they are pointed.
Shot this goat with the 144. Performed perfect. Quartering away at 564 yards. Placed the shot in the rear of the rib cage and exited just behind the front shoulder. Took out both lungs and the top of the heart. Buck ran a few steps spun around and dropped. I'm a firm believer in this bullet for this size game. I opened up the tips also as I mentioned in a earlier post. H4831sc was powder used.

Awesome. Thanks for the update

I don't have any 23 but it's on my radar for sure. I'm going to give h4831sc, h1000, and imr4955 a try. A friend is running 4955 and it's very promising looking. I also built my rig on a long Action so I've got plenty of room to seat them out some. Thinking of about .070 off to start.

What is this software you are using as it is very informative. I have ADG brass, 144 LRHT and H1000 powder with Fed 215M Primers and this would save me allot of time as the Books are very conservative on loads.

That chart was done for me by Unkown Munitions. Should be tons of info available on the 65PRC with H1000. Program is called "QuickLoad".
