6.5 PRC Barnes ammo 127 LRX Velocity in 24" bbl

I have a handload using RE26 that is just shy of 3100 FPS……….what does Barnes claim for the factory Ammo??

I'm getting 2960 out of a 26" creedmoor, so you shouldn't have any trouble getting 3100 out of a 24" PRC

I'm trying to match a factory load for the barnes ammo for a friend. I know its not going to be perfect but I want to load to a similar velocity and OAL. Does anyone have the OAL for the factory 6.5 PRC Barnes 127 LRX ammo?

I would start at .070 from lands and load SHORTER to get my best accuracy. I have found the LRX bullets like to be around .090 off of lands for best accuracy

Im only guessing here. Buddy says this load shoots the best and wants to save some cash or just flat unable to get it, and the rifle is not available for you to have?

I have only one experience with actual hard data loading to match factory ammo without a specific rifle. Several of us all had .308 rifles that shot Fed GMM 168's well under .5". I was the reloader in the group, and we wanted much cheaper practice ammo. I loaded for my rifle and was within 10fps of the factory ammo with same bullet, primer, and same brass. I neck sized and FL sized cases and they shot about .1-.2 worse in my rifle, and everyone jumped in. I loaded up a box of 500 bullets in their brass spread among everyone. Yeah the next week the hate calls, knocking on door, and *** chewing at work started on what a total screw up I did. Never again.
