6.5 creedmoor reloading

hi I'm new here but I just bought a Brownings hells canyon long range in 6.5 creedmoor and I'm gonna reload. I was wondering what would be the best bullet weight and powder for best velocity and accuracy?
H4350 will not work in any of my rifles chambered in 6.5 CM but I have found that RL16 does. I have chosen 130 grains bullet weight. Plus, find a powder that is stable less sensitive to temperature change IS the way to go.

Superperformance and 125 grain Partitions.
Use care with Hornady #9 reloading manual. the superformance load is hot way to hot. Hornady #10 has been fixed. Start low and work up. CREEDMORE works great with all bullets up to max weight. For long range higher weights higher bc's. 4350 powders and superformance powders are good. try the manuals Berger and Hornady. Also the internet sites. I do prefer the heavier bullets with high ballistic coefficient. good fun any way

I load for several 6.5 cm's. Like yourself I have a browning hells canyon long range which which I load 135gr Berger classic hunter under Re-26. 1/2 MOA with excellent velocity using star line brass since I use this rifle for hunting. I've found that super performance works well also with 135-143gr bullets. IMR 4451 has produced the best accuracy with 120gr bullets. I neck turn and full length size my brass. Lots of information and combinations for need. Have fun

I have Browning LR hunter in 6.5 cm 140 gr berger vld in front of IMR4451 fed 210, with seating .010 out of lands shoots the best in mine.

Hi Tgnara001,

As many have likely mentioned, way too many factors in play that can affect both of those variables. Accuracy comes from numerous factors such as shooter ability, wind (and the ability to read it), elevation and knowing how it affects velocity, type of ammunition being used (hand loads, factory offerings, etc.), as well as quality of rifle that you are using.

6.5 Creedmoor is an extremely popular cartridge mainly because of the marketing from various manufacturers. It's not necessarily much better than other calibers that have long been available, however, with the marketing hype comes many match grade factory offerings. Not that this helps you as you are inquiring about hand loads...

Now, to address your questions... I think the first thing to ask is; what is your intended usage? What particular hunting/target shooting are you doing?

All of the above responses will give you great ideas, but may not work for your exact situation and your rifle. Most can agree that Hodgdon H4350 and similar burn rate powders will likely net you great results, but is not always the case.

As far as bullets, not many will ever say that Berger VLD's, Sierra MK, or Hammer Bullets won't net great results... those are usually pretty safe to start with, but are more expensive than others. I've had great luck with cheaper bullets like Hornady ELD-M and ELD-X... could start there.

All-in-all, it's redundant to say and kind of cliche, but "consistency is accuracy." Keep your reloading practices in check and any decent rifle (like the Browning) should suit you well.

Good luck and if you have any other questions feel free to message me.

I have had good luck with Hornady 143 ELDx bullets, Hogdon Superformance powder and Federal 210 primers. I got a hunting load dialed in that is easily 3/4" groups and has worked for a number of hog hunts. All 1 shot kills. I have not chronoed this load, it's about 25% of Hornadys published max load.
I used same load with 45.0 grs. CCIBR2 in my Tikka w/24.5 in. Barrel . Fps is 2880's.

When you load the the 6.5 Creed up to it's correct pressure (62,000 psi), it runs just below and right up to, 6.5X284 Norma velocities, with 140-143 gr bullets.
