6.5 Creedmoor Hammer bullet selection

Oops, I just re-read your post and see you're using Lapua brass. Sorry I missed that. Still, my question is, are you doing that for longer brass life?

Once you played the howl and he answered there was no need to play it anymore. If he was withing 125 yards I would have switched so some lip squeaks or some sort of high pitched rodent sound. Continuing to switch between howls and distress when he was that close only confirmed his suspicions, that something wasn't right.

Go easy on multiple sounds your next trip into that area.

Was the only 6.5 brass I could get to work up the load. Will try some SRM if I can ever find them to see if they get better powder burn. At some point I just need to get better at shooting ;)

What is your load recipie? Are you shooting a stock barrel?

right now I have 6.5 Superlite put a Mesa Precision Altitude stock, factory everything else. Shooting .5-.75 moa with 124HH 40.0 Varget, neck 1.545, CBTO 2.137, Lapua SRP, CCI primers. I don't have a good Chrono, so not sure of the velocity, but based on my distance drops, it seems to be about 2850-2900 fps
NorCal,
2 good spreadsheets for Hammer loads you need to look at:
Hammer Hunter Load Data, and
Absolute Hammer Load Data. Both are on this forum.

I'm using the 124's in my CM and I also shoot the 177HH in my 28 Nosler with great success.

Zen. I'm curious what powder you are using with the 123 AH? I assume that in the CM?

Littlebighorn, what powder and load data do you have for both the Creed and 28 Nosler? I have both, testing the Creed now using RL16 and will play with the 28 using the 177 in the near future.

I'm loading RL 33 in the 28 and shooting right at 3200 fps. I get .5 MOA groups with ease and it will consistently hit the center of the 600 yd gong at my range. Hopefully it will take a bighorn sheep for my son and a bull elk for me this fall. (we drew some great tags!)

I'm also shooting RL 16 in my Creedmoor but I'd like to crank it up like Zen claims with the 123 AH's.
I haven't found a powder that mine likes with the 123's, but I'm hoping he will share his secret.

I also shoot the 124g HH in my 6.5x 284 behind RL 26 and it shoots lights out as well (also at 3200 fps).
My last group was under .2 MOA, which is better than I thought I could shoot.

Awesome, I have RL33, but it is hotter than hades right now in TX, I have some N570, Retumbo and H1k, I may give it a try and when weather cools see what RL33 will do. I know when I was shooting my 28, it loved RL33, was the most accurate with the Berger 195.

Mine also shot the Berger 195s very well, but I wanted to switch to the Hammer and I'm glad I did.
I try to just shoot early and late to avoid the heat anyway, but those other powders are good options. I have some Retumbo I wanted to try, but my range time is limited. Best of luck Kmccord.
