Any issues with that 7 twist? I have the same barrel, except 26", but keep getting warned about blowing bullets up. Went with it to shoot the 147+ bullets, and I'm at sea level elevation. It will be a 6.5ss also.

No issues so far. I think I'm seeing pressure earlier than a lot of guys. My max load is 57.3gn h1000 and a 140 Berger at 3025fps. Slight ejector mark on every 3rd case or so. This was developed around 40° so I'm sure I'll have to back off for early coues hunts when it can be 90°.

I've got some 124 hammers coming and might step up to 137s if anyone in my family draws an elk tag this year. We have had some weird Berger results lately so I'm excited to see if Steve's bullets will help bring a little more consistency.

FYI
Hornady said no go on 140eldm with 7 twist but Berger said no issues with there 140 hvld. Never asked about the 147s.

Thanks for the info. My plan was to start with the 150 smk's and try the 156 Berger's when they are released. I really had my heart set on the heavier bullets, but haven't found anybody shooting the 150-160's with 7 twist. I did contact Sierra but didn't get a good enough answer to base a build on.

I know its not a 7 twist, but I have a Krieger 4 groove 7.5 twist, and launching 147's at 3240 fps (up to 3320 or so firing load developement) have had no issues, but there is only around 70 rounds down the tube so far.

That's great velocity, and makes me feel a little better. I wonder why Cliff is hitting pressure so quickly? I anticipate some velocity loss with the 1:7 but 3025 with a 140 is less than desirable. This has me on the fence of swapping that barrel to 7.5 or just going the 7mm route.

I imagine rl26 would probably gain another 100fps or so.

Also, I'm usong a .264 Win Mag not a sherman or ss. 3040 is pretty slow with a 140 for a sherman cartridge though....interesting.

How do you like that Athlon scope so far.

I haven't shot this ETR enough to form a real opinion on it yet. Haven't even ran a tall target on it. Clarity is more than acceptable, reticle is much better than the BTR's. They were too thick. Clicks are much more solid than BTR's, more comparable to the Cronus. Love the locking windage turret.

As for Athlon in general I've been very happy. I've had around 8 of them, still own 4. I wasn't disappointed with any of them, some just didn't fit the need I was after. Least favorites were the Ares BTR's. Too thick of a reticle and the clicks weren't that solid. Favorites are the Cronus for sure, wouldn't get rid of them for anything. Second would be the MTAC's. Hell of a scope for the price if you are looking for minimal options. This ETR will probably be up there with the Cronus, but I can't honestly say yet with only 50 rounds or so on it.
