6.5-08 AI aka 260 rem on roids

to me the CM and the 260 are pretty much same old same old with similar pressures so no not getting close to the 6.5/284 which is pretty much the same as the 6.5/06

I agree on the 260/6 Creedmoor being the same but I thought the AI would put it over the top a little more than 75fps

My 260ai is pretty much right there with a 6.5-284. With some bullet/powder combo's it will exceed it. Prob see about as much difference in individual barrels, and with load preference from each barrel.
A 140 can be driven over 3k but mine likes the 2850-2875 range with most 140 class bullets. It likes a 129lrab at 3045, which is plenty fast, or the 144 Berger - RL26 combo at 2960.
I can easily go over 100fps difference from the 260 I had or the 6.5cm's I have, some of that is likely running the very straight walled cases, and the tough brass helping hide pressures. But I am somewhere around 12 reloads on one batch of brass and haven't lost a case yet, so the pressure is not through the roof.

Savage mod 16 stainless , as it came from the factory. 22" 1/8 twist bbl. CCI #250 mag primer. 47.5grs Rel 26. Badlands Precision 125gr Bulldozer copper mono ( BC .510 ) . 3032fps. Very reasonable recoil, flat shooting , good case life & will take elk cleanly. Even if you gained 100 fps second with the 260 AI, it means little. Maybe 1/3" flatter at 300yds. The 260 Rem as is, is a great performer. Nosler 6.5 140gr AB ( BC .509 ) on the left, Badlands Bulldozer 6.5 125gr on the right ( BC .510 ) . Super accurate . This load is absolutely safe in my rifle. If used in a different rifle the load should be worked up from well below my safe max.

Might want to look at, the 6.5 SLR or, the 6.5X55 GWI, BOTH, are very accurate and, a bit "easier" on Bbl's than, the 6.5- 284 or, 6.5 WSM, etc. ! My 1st Choice would be, the 6.5 X 55 GWI (30* shoulder ) and easy to make from, GREAT,.. Lapua Brass !
Both Cartridge's will hit, the sweet spot of, 2,900 - 3,100 easily with, High BC, 140's and with, probably, DOUBLE, the Barrel Life of, my current Rifle. IF, I wanted to build, another Rifle, to replace my .270 WSM, these Two, would be, Top Candidates !

I am building a 24" 1:7.5" .260AI as we speak.
My daughters shoot a 6.5CM and a 6.5SLR respectively. The 6.5SLR will outpace the 6.5CM with like for like powders and bullets by about 75-100fps due to slightly increased case capacity. I had a .260Rem for years. Matched my 6.5SLR step for step with powder choice, charge weight, and bullet.

I am hoping to gain 100fps+/- over a standard .260 Rem with the .260AI. I have seen 100-150fps gains with every other AI over a standard parent case SAAMI rifle. I have owned or shot several of the standard SAAMI parent cased rifles and the AI counterparts.

I think Cody Adams runs the Berger 156 grain around 2,950 fps with his 260 AI with reloder 26. He could run faster but accuracy was a bit lower than max velocity

I believe he has a 29" barrel on his 260 AI. That's why I'm interested to see how Lance's rig works. I have a 25.5" barrel waiting to be installed.
