400 Yard Bear Hammer Bullet Recovered

The lungs from a Deer I killed the monday before the bear. I think they expand fine. This deer dropped in it's tracks. 200 yards. 177HH.

X2 on Butterbeans give away. Got rid of all (almost all) of my Barnes bullets. Think I've got some 25 cal left. Will give them to anybody that wants them. Just pay postage. I won't be shooting any more. It's Hammers for me

Before last years opening of deer season I switched everything I hunt big game with to hammer bullets. 6.5 Grendel, 6.5 Man bun, and 7-08. Killed two with the Grendel, 99 grain at near 2775 FPS. Boom flop. 110 in man bun. 3100 +. Nothing went more than15 yards. They were lung hits. Most DRT. 6 of them. 7-08 with 120 HH all one and done accounted for the rest. Hit one buck at 485 didn't account for wind and hit him in the butt. Took out both femoral arteries he went 20 yards. not my best moment in the field, but dead is dead. I'll never go back to cup and core bullets and I hated Barnes before I switched only failures in game recovery was with them. I shoot up c and c bullets at paper. 16 deer all either DRT or kicking up dirt for about 20 yards. Man I love Alabama and hammer bullets.

If the bullet hung onto the petals like a Barnes, we would almost consider it a failure. At best that would be considered halfway done expanding.

Josh shot this awesome California bear at 400 yards with a 284 Win. and the 177 Hammer Hunter Bullet. The bullet was recovered in the opposite shoulder just under the hide. Congratulations on an awesome shot and bear.
