375 Mercenary

Had 36 loads for 12 3 shot strings in 1 gr powder charge increments, 1 round from each 3 shot string was placed outside in +25F daytime highs to low +16F temps over night and at +25F temps through the shooting day, ammo was chilled for 24 hrs prior to shooting and kept out in the cold at all times, the other two rounds were kept at 65-70 F room temps at home and in vehicle at shooting location ....... every single shot was HD video taped for future reference in the event of any delayed ignition instances, did not experience delayed ignition of any sort and all 36 loads went off in a normal manner, the H50BMG powder remained stable throughout, the chilled rounds did not exhibit any temp sensitivity vs the warm, room temp loads, often times the velocity was nearly identical with a few chilly ones clocking in with higher velocity, H50BMG appeared to not notice the +70F to +25F temp difference, no velocity spikes or dips were encountered and velocity of over 320 fps gain from low charges to high climbed normally with each successive load ......... all shots were fired without scope, not an accuracy test... Magnetospeed chronograph used to record velocities for each shot and digital unit kept in vehicle between the 3 shot strings, more testing underway ......
max case length is 3.1" and all cases were trimmed to minimum trim length @ 3.09", 192.3 gr case h20 capacity is at min trimmed case length and once fired in chamber , bullets seated to 4.50" coal ......

Swamplord--For your next continual test...are you going to use the once fired brass or do you have another batch of unfired brass?

Messed around with necking the 375 Mercenary fired cases to .416 and .338 cals, fairly simple operation by using expanders for the .400 and .416 calibers, necked right up with a bit of Redding Imperial die wax applied to the inside of case mouth ....

necking down to 338 cal was just as easy by using bushings for .358 and .338 cals and the sizing wax on outside of case neck .....

Had several gents asking about the weight of the test rifle with the Choate Ultimate Sniper stock coupled with the 33" Rock Creek barrel and action

The Rock Creek barrel is in their "CheyTac" contour which is 1.350" shank diameter for 6" then straight taper to 1.1" at the 33" finished length, the 4 port Center Shot Muscle Brake is 2 3/8" long and 1.240" in diameter..... action is a Stiller made Ashbury Precision Ordnance Saber VX with Picatinny rail included...... all this WITHOUT the NF scope and rings , is right on the nose at 18.5 lbs.......

At this time (on my end of things) I am temporarily unable to ship anything outside of the United States of America, but I am working on it, my intention is to eventually be a legal US importer/exporter of Bertram brass into and outside of the US, simply due to the fact that I am interested in Bertram making brass for several of my most popular wildcats, this info will be posted as things progress.........

the 375 Mercenary brass I have on hand for load development is what I had necked down and fire formed from the parent 585 Nyati basic brass as made by Bertram of Australia.... Do not have any 416, 375 or 338 Mercenary headstamped brass yet, I do have fire formed brass in 375 that was necked to 416 and 338, including the shortened Slayer versions ...
If you are within the 50 US states we can come to terms and shipment can be ASAP , otherwise there will have to be compliance with export/import/ ITAR etc. etc. which I do not have info on at the moment.....

The US brass group order deadline for the 375 Merc is today, anyone with interest can still place an order, contact [email protected]..

my sincerest apologies but I must comply with current US and International laws that apply to what we are dealing with......

Hello Swamplord,

Any further updates at this moment or does weather have you closed in?
Do you know if any of the guys building Mercs got into KO2M registration?

Sub zero temps and life have been obstacles along with dedication to other projects that needed immediate attention..... things are progressing and have a ton of data but as usual only have so much time to make it all into print, more to come soon.....

Just a heads up to the European, Canadian, Australian and New Zealand shooters that were interested in the 375 Mercenary reamers..... PT&G will ship reamers outside of the USA

The original Pacific Tool and Gauge (PT&G) print from August, 2014 has been updated to match all dimension revisions and is identical to the JGS and Manson prints for one standardized 375 Mercenary design ...... this will eliminate any problems in the future in regards to dies, brass and load data...
