.338 Sherman Short Mag build

Thanks for the bump! I ran into some unexpected and disappointing delays. I sent my action to a gunsmith who is well known for his work on Savage actions, but is also well known for being very slow. I was told it would be 6 weeks to do some truing work, but it actually took 4 months. I'm told that it was going in the mail on Monday.

Once I have it in my hands, I will take it to my gunsmith, and they say they should be able to build the rifle in 3-4 weeks.

I have all of my brass ready to firestorm, so as soon as it is finished, I will get started. Hopefully we will see some data from the other builds soon, too.

Bump for updates?

I can fully vouch for AxisWorks quality. They have built two rifles for me, and will be building a third shortly. I have also done load development on many of their rifles...and they all shoot amazingly. Fit and finish are superb.

I haven't heard of a bad one yet!

Unfortunately, when I tried to reach out to Axis Works to confirm that they still wanted the job, they didn't reply to email, and their voicemailbox was full. So I decided to take it to a local smith who has turned out some good rifles.

Mine was done a month ago, very fortunate to have my smith build it under two weeks (I sourced and provided all the parts). I'm prepping my brass too so I had to buy a few tools to do so. All I need now is dies and I'm ready to rock.

FINALLY got word the dies were shipped to me so I should have a set headed your way early next week!!

Here is a pic of the 338SS loaded up with one of Steves good lookin' 260 Hammer Hunters. This client is building it on a long action so it is throated considerably to take advantage of the long bullet, since coal is not an issue.
This will be a nice comparison to the standard throat, and another "in between" throat that I set up for a Tikka build.

What kind of velocity do you think you'll get with that bullet
