338 Norma Reloading Data

I'm going to switch from the 270 Super Bulldozer and N-570 to the 250 Super Bulldozer II and I have N-565, N-570, Retumbo, IMR7828, a little RL26, and a little H1000 to choose from. Im6thinking N-565......The 250 SBDII has a better bc than the 270 SBD does, will obviously be going faster, which only helps stability and more speed is never a bad thing for a mono.

Knowing these bullets, I will probably just use my load data from the 265 ABLR's and the 250 SBDII, as my data for the 270 SBD closely matched data for the 300 Bergers as far as max charges. Just unsure where to start with the N565, has anyone used it for 250-265 grain bullets? If not I'll update when I get them.
I didn't know there was a 250 SBDII. It's not on their site. What's the BC and what's the min twist rate?

Ive shot 265 CELs with RL26. I couldn't get them to shoot consistently and think it was a stability issue in my 1:9.4.

for reference in quickload-
250 Berger's with N565 show max at 93.7gr and 103% case fill. Depending on your seating depth. This is just over 63K. Peterson brass won't show pressure till your a ways north of 70K

It's on their site, here is the link -

.410 G7, 10 twist minimum.

What velocity was that 93.7 load at, and what barrel length? I'm figuring around 2950 from my 24"

Well sheet. I don't know how I didn't see those. I just got 100 of the 240s in the mail. I'll have to order some of the 250s tomorrow.
The QL data was with a 24" and I don't remember the vel but it was 2900-2950ish.

Perfect. Mine is a 24", so I will aim for 2950 or less to be safe on pressure. Thank you greatly sir!

I looked again and N565 max pressure was 2880. RL26 was 2904. The other powders you listed are a little too slow to get to max pressure before you run out of room in the case. Also N560 was right at 2900.

keep in mind these numbers are using a Berger 250 OTM

Went and did a seating depth test with 285ELDs and N570 after a very basic powder test.(10 rounds loaded .5 apart and looking for limited vertical at 300) I normally do this as a pressure test, but do a more in depth powder test before moving to seating. 95.5-96.5 had about 3/4" vertical. They were also 5fps ES. So loaded 96gr and started .003 off and moved off the rifling .003 at a time. Seemed to like .010-.013". I'll have to see if I can duplicate it. ES was ok, but I'm going to lighten up on neck tension .001 and see if it shrinks a bit.

Yeah, I need to talk with our local spot to see if I can pay them to order me a bunch of N570 when they place their retail order.
The manager had talked about it, but I wasn't concerned at the time.
