338 Norma Reloading Data

I'm going to switch from the 270 Super Bulldozer and N-570 to the 250 Super Bulldozer II and I have N-565, N-570, Retumbo, IMR7828, a little RL26, and a little H1000 to choose from. Im6thinking N-565......The 250 SBDII has a better bc than the 270 SBD does, will obviously be going faster, which only helps stability and more speed is never a bad thing for a mono.

Knowing these bullets, I will probably just use my load data from the 265 ABLR's and the 250 SBDII, as my data for the 270 SBD closely matched data for the 300 Bergers as far as max charges. Just unsure where to start with the N565, has anyone used it for 250-265 grain bullets? If not I'll update when I get them.
Hey Cody I just wanted to ask, exactly what magazine setup your using to be able to put the 270 SBD's in? I think in one of your earlier post the COAL with that bullet is over 3.8 so I am curious what magazine can fit that?

So this thread has been going a few years now and there's some great info in it but has there yet to be anyone to try IMR 8133?

I really want that powder to work in some bigger mag applications to give us another option. I have a supply of N570 but I would almost rather find something else to work well instead of a powder I'm always worried about trying to find. Although right now probably won't get my hands on any powder for a while.

Anyway if anyone got any info on 8133 in the Norma, either 338 or 300 I'd like to hear it!

I use a Wyatts center feed 3.850 BDL set up. They would also run in my buddies CIP length Stiller dbm with just a standard CIP length aics mag

Ok and thank you. I have the accurate mag cip length magazine and with my measurements 3.78 is the very longest I can squeeze in there and I went with accurate over AI cus they're supposed to be just a tad longer inside, and I really like the 3 round magazine option. Guess I just hopefully won't run into needing more room then that.

I have been using the 338 RUM data for my improved version and it seems to be tracking well at least with Ramshot Magnum. Hodgdon has data available for the RUM with 8133 and the 300 Sierra. I don't think that I would be a bit afraid of using it since the case capacity is so close.

300 yard ladder with Ramshot magnum and 250 Berger with an improved case.I did not encounter any pressure signs on Lapua brass. I think I will run it up a little higher and see if the next node comes in.

I have a brand new (50) box of 304gr Hammer Hunters that I'm not gonna use if any wants them. $80 shipped CONUS

Since powder is so hard to find around these parts, and I can't ever find N570, has anyone tried IMR 7828 SSC or IMR 7977?

I've got a pile of the 275gn BDII's to load for my hunting round.

Ok, took a bit to get around to it, but I got some of the 250 SBDII's loaded up. They are gonna be seated at .025" off, which comes out to 3.681" in my standard throated chamber with a couple hundred rounds down it. I'm gonna test out N570 and N565. Going off of data from several references and my own experience, I decided to work from 91 up to 97 grains of N570, I doubt I will get to 97 grains before I hit my max, which I plan on stopping around 2900, but even if I do, using my 6" drop tube I can still hear powder moving around in the case, so it is not compressed. N570 reacts really well to drop tubes, the kernels are dang near the size of bullet ants ha ha. I will probably not finish the N565 work up either, as I went from 86 up to 92.5 grains. But whenever I hit my velocity max, I'll just pull the rest. Should be fun!!

What 97 grains of N570 looks like in Peterson brass after a 6" drop tube.

Looking forward to your results.

I'm just patiently waiting for my rifle to get started and back to me. I've got all my components and dies.

Just got my cases today and then immediately ordered another batch of cases, because of how the current events are playing out.

Ok, so my magneto speed went on the fritz, was a frustrating day, didn't accomplish much ha ha. I ended up ditching N570 as I only have about 1.5 lbs left, and I'm not having any luck getting more, though 91 grains did shoot pretty well, at around 2860 I believe. I purchased a labradar, just got out today, and did a max pressure work up with Retumbo and IMR7828ssc, ended up with this -

250 SBDII
Peterson brass
GM215M
.025 off
24" Lilja 4 groove barrel

RETUMBO -
91 - 2862
92 - 2903
93 - 2924
94 - 2963 - discontinued, entire group right at 1 MOA ctc, with 91-93 being sub .75" @100

IMR7828ssc -
86 - 2922
87 - 2962 - discontinued, the two were 2" apart

If I was going to continue IMR7828ssc, I would start around 83 grains and work up from there, probably around 2820-2830 to start. I'm going to continue my work up with retumbo, likely doing a ladder from 91 to 93.
