Troy shot this Blesbok with a 20" 308 Win at 245 yards with a 154gr Hammer HHT with a MV of 2650 FPS.
Here's is the field report, "The impact was mid-shoulder and rolled the ram one full roll, and then he got up and ran about 40 yds and piled up. The bullet caught both lungs, broke both shoulders, and exited."
Congratulations on a beautiful Blesbok and thanks for sharing your results.

Sweet! My Afrikaner friend over there used a 308 for the majority of his culling, etc. He mostly used (this was 30 yrs ago BTW) the 180 Mag Tip. He later used the Barnes 180 XBT on the biiger stuff, i.e. Cape eland. Looks like that 154 HHT is a good one! (Seriously, I never shot a "bad" Hammer! ha)

That's a solid shot! A 245-yard shot with a .308 Win, especially using a 154gr Hammer HHT at 2650 FPS, is impressive for a Blesbok. The fact that it rolled the ram one full turn and still ran another 40 yards shows just how tough those animals can be, but that bullet did some serious work. Breaking both shoulders and catching both lungs is a perfect example of the kind of terminal performance you want out of a round like that.

The Hammer HHT is no slouch either—designed for deep penetration and reliable expansion, it seems like it did exactly what it was supposed to do here. Troy must've had great shot placement, and with that bullet, it sounds like the hunt was a success in terms of both skill and equipment.

Congrats to Troy on a beautiful Blesbok, and great job on the rifle setup! That's a solid field report, and it's always cool hearing how well the gear performs in real-world situations. Are you building more rifles like this one for others? Would love to hear about some of your other custom builds!
