308 vs 260

Both the 6.5x47L & 6.5CM(mighty mouses) were designed for mid range competition(600yd) using 123-130gr bullets. They meet their design objectives very well.
They've so far met occasional success at 1kyd(when calm), but there is low hunting energy out there.

If you plan to go 260, and you plan to reload every bit, I'm compelled to suggest improving it.
Step it up to higher shoulder angles, lower body taper, custom dies. Get enough barrel steel around the chamber to run 6.5x47L preferred pressures, but with capacity to push 140s similar. Use a stiff barrel, but long enough to keep muzzle pressures low(larger profile, fluted).
Cull the cases for low thickness variance, cull again matching h20 capacity after fully fireformed.
Dial in your bullet seating while fireforming, then shoot as distant a ladder as you can to dial in powder.
Buy enough of brass, primers, bullets, and powder, all in same lot, to last the life of a couple barrels.
Oh yeah, buy barrels in pairs, have them finished along with your seating die & gizzy, in matching pairs. Pay more for your scope than your gun.
Ok, I'm all blurted out...
