300RUM Velocities

The Barnes 180 TTX and TTSX have shot so well out of my RUM. I'm excited to see how the 181 Hammer does Fri.. (loading rigjt now lol) also 190 Barnes LRX. Still no 200 LRX. Got my bullet shipment today. Berger 210 VLD. 200 and 212 ELDX. And 190 LRX. Soon there will be an XYZ... I didn't check it out but did someone say the 196 Hammer had a lower BC ?
The 196 shows .268 G7 (estimated) and the 181 shows .272 G7 (drops), so it may be a wash between the two as far as BC goes. One is estimated and one was shot for drops.

Well I guess you have the edge on velocity with the 181 . Sticking with 181 for know. Thank you Bravo 4 !

I have a question fellows, is retumbo too slow for those little cases
I don't think so. I've used in 7 Rem mag and 6.5 PRC. The latter with Fed mag primer and CCI BR2 with 60 grs. Retumbo . Bout max. Both work good with it and highest velocities. In 300 rum and 7 mag the most accurate also.

Hey guys. I just weighed all 50 of the 181 Hammers. I'm impressed. They all weighed between 182.2 and 182.5!
I like the extra grain in weight :) doing some Retumbo loads from Nosler manual like you guys suggested .

I just checked most of the 6.5 131 gr. Hammers I bought. They are all between 131.3 and 131.6 ! They are almost exact length as the 30 cal. 181s. Wow. Just threw that in there...

Retumbo is an excellent powder for the RUM but.... the Hammers have less engraving pressure than an equal weight bullet so a slightly faster powder is generally better as well as a magnum primer.

Thanks for that info on the powder . I would not of known. I have many I can try. Thanks Wedgy !
