300 wby update

I just checked and we were running 180 gr Bullets with 7828 Fed 215 primer and powder charge was 86 grains. If you could manage recoil it would shoot virtually through the same hole. But I didn't write down seating depth but every gun is its own animal. You might have to alter one way or another from there by powder charge or seating depth especially depending on what Bullets you try.
Sounds awesome, recoil doesnt bother me, I shoot .404 Jeffries and 375 ultras all day long, no brake...thank you

I have chambered several Weatherby chamberings and have ordered all of the reamers with no freebore. I think you can experience both accuracy and velocity. Yes I know I cant shoot factory cartridges but I don't ever want to do that. It would be hard to find 338-378 factory loadings anyway. Or 30-378 with 125 grn bullets. At 4000 fps will shoot .2 or less. I think it is very difficult to shoot less than an inch when the bullet has to jump 250 thousands or more which has a tendency to deform or malutrate the bullet.
That's good to know, thank you

ok, when new barrel was put on the gunsmith did not give me any freebore, it had no jump. After I decipherEd the problem, he rebored to .0010 over a factory wby freebore for a 300 wby. In other words it's standard freebore for a 300 wby with .0010 added. He said it was 3/8" shallow beforehand. I'm not sure how many thousands he added but I do remember it came out to 3/8" that's why I asked because I could remember that. So, no freebore before, after reaming out deeper, .0010 over factory wby specs.
Weatherbys like their freebore. Bullets have to jump the canyon before they go their merry way. I really like my accumark. I burned out my first 300 Weatherby. Sure was fun.

As I know it, Weatherby Freebore is 0.0003" over bore diameter , (that's 3/10,000 "), more of an unrestricted bullet guide. It can load with copper/fouling which will cause pressure to raise.

I have one more 300 bee in a WIN M70 I haven't loaded for yet, so I am waiting to see how yours work out.
84 grain R-19 shot well, 3/4". I know it will do better, I have to play with it more..I'm thinking the 7828 will be the stuff, I got one Wby gun and 5 custom chambered in wby calibers, they all shoot well right at max, every one of them!

My first Weatherby I bought used in 1986. It was made in 1959 in West Germany. It shot 180 gr Nosler BT half inch with IMR4350 right at MAX. That load is not considered safe now, so I will have to revisit it.

Hi, I'm not a gunsmith, before I had it fixed it had zero freebore. Now, it's .0010 over wby specs.. it's shooting decent now
.0010 is 1/3 the thickness of a human hair. Are you meaning it's .010 over weatherby spec? Because .001 wouldn't have gained you 1/8 a turn on your dies?

That is correct sorry, I'm told 3/8". Freebore total, that's what I remember gunsmith told me the .0000 but I forgot it, I do remember the 3/8 though, I know it's not precise but I told to give me a rough measurement in inches
