30 sherman magnum

Has anyone shot or have any data for the 28 Sherman mag? From what I can tell it's the 30sm necked down to 28. Wondering about velocities with the 195 and barrel life as well but I can't find any info. Is there a page that I can't find on it?
Its pretty new. A few built but no data back yet. It should run at least with the Nosler but likely more barrel life with a longer neck and steeper shoulder.

Copy that. Looking forward to seeing data on it! 1200 or so would be awesome for barrel life on something that runs with the nosler!

Elkaholic on here will be able to help you out that's Rich Sherman or check out face book on "Sherman wildcat cartridge group" lots good info there

What are you guys running with these, a hinged floorplate with Wyatt's extended box or a DBM system with CIP length magazines? Do the CIP length magazines give you enough room to chase the lands or keep the long bullets out of the powder column?

People are using both
The 245 and 250 grain bullets need cip.
The 215-230 do not

Elkaholic...getting ready to start a ladder on the 28 SM 195 EOL N570. It looks like QL shows 28 Nosler max at 79.4 grains. But folks are shooting up to 84 grains in the 7 STW. Any advice? I'm thinking I'll start at 78 and load up to 80 for the first go.

Looks like I'm back to drawing board anyway. Just got my 0.281" mandrel from 21st C, and it slips into all my cases by hand after sizing with 0.312" bushing. And it appears the necks are all 0.313" O.D. And not very far down the neck at all despite bumping shoulders 0.002". So not impressed with Hornady Match Grade dies!! I'm gonna order a 0.310" bushing and wait another week, but still dont think that'll solve the fact the die is only sizing about the width of my micrometer down the neck. And the bushings are super sloppy in the die as well...looks like maybe too sloppy!

I havent had that trouble with my 30 SM and they are the same dies?
The rcbs and redding bushings fit but arent as deep as the hornady bushings so you might try Hornady to size deeper on the neck. It sounds like you have a bushing that's not sizing as marked also. My loaded neck o d with ADG brass is .314" so I dont know why the .312" didn't work if it really measured .312"?
As Far as loading, I would start at 79 N570 and work up. 79 sounds very anemic for a Nosler unless it has VERY short FB?
My feeling is you will max closer to the stw (84) but there isnt a lot of data yet, so go easy. I had a client shooting up to 86-87 behind a 180 eldm this week.

28 Sherman Magnum load data from this morning. 26" wilson barrel, 8 twist and 195 Berger Elite Hunters.

Temp at 630 am was 52 and the elevation was 5702. Ran 2 rounds apiece at the following charges.

78g N570 BTO 2.900" MV 2967 ES 10 - This would be a good fire forming load as it ran about the same as 74g of H1000.
79g N570 BTO 2.900" MV 3020 ES 26
80g N570 BTO 2.900" MV 3083 ES 6
80.5g N570 BTO 2.900" MV 3081 ES 45 - Not sure what went on here.
81g N570 BTO 2.900" MV 3117 ES 1
81.5g N570 BTO 2.900" MV 3126 ES 20
82g N570 BTO 2.900" MV 3146 ES 28
82.5 N570 BTO 2.900" MV 3151 ES 1
83g N570 BTO 2.900" MV 3202 ES 7

Last two groups shot the best. I need to let the barrel cool longer between shots as extraction tends to get a little sticky. Same thing happened on my 30 Sherman Mags as well. I use Labradar as my chrono. The brass I used was Hornady necked down to the 28. I have not noticed any charge or speed difference between ADG and Hornady 300 PRC brass. My 30 Sherman Magnums run the 205 Berger Elite hunters at 3230fps and the 245 Berger Elite Hunters at 2970fps in either brass with the same charge. I never had an extractor kiss or hard bolt lift. These are loads that worked for me in rifles I chambered. These loads are for reference only and not reccomendations.
