Just now reading up on this. Looks like another great wildcat Rich! I had a 300PRC on the to do list but that has just been revised to 30 Sherman. No brainer since you can grab factory 300 PRC to fireform if i were to ever God forbid lose my ammo on a hunt. Idk when it will get done though. Probably in another 2.5 years after Dental School but plenty of time to contemplate the build.

What's the consensus on a 24" tube and 225gr ELD-Ms? 2900~2950 depending on barrel? Part of me got to thinking of pulling a Tikka T3 lite in 300wm, ordering a PROOF prefit, and slapping it in a KRG bravo. Though i'm willing to be that would be one harsh recoiling setup.

Also has anyone tried a 1-7 twist to get the best performance out of the 225gr ELD-M?

Has anyone used the 199gr hammers hunters ? I was wondering if there was any on game results and what kinda velocity you got out of it.

It was just a thought to speed up the process but i'm more prone to wait and save to get exactly what i want. Currently thinking along these lines, sort of cloning my 7 SS, except slightly lighter.

Yes, the Tikka is too short!
You need something that will accommodate 3.75"+ to get all of its potential

I dont know that I would run a 7 twist either. I think 8 is plenty and I run a 9 in mine

Tikka will be too short without machining the receiver and a bit of mag tweaking. There are better choices once you exceed 3.69-70". For the sherman max and short versions Tikka T3 works great and can make such a good light lower cost action choice.

They should be close to the 230 Berger load wise. I would start at 80 grains and likely max at 84-85

Thanks have you heard of anyone having good luck on game with this bullet going around 3000-3050 that's what I'm hoping to get out of it
