Hey everyone,
I've been playing around with 215 Bergers and 200eldxs in my 30-06. So far results aren't great but my powder selection is thin so I'm looking to see what people would recommend for pushing the heavy bullets.

Currently have tried IMR4831 and the velocity is there but accuracy isn't awesome.

Which powders would you recommend and what are your experiences with your heavy 30-06 loads?

Like Eric H stated. 4064 is listed for every weight of bullet from 110 to 225gr in the Hodgdon book.

Personally, I went with H4831SC in my Dad's .30-06 Spr using Berger 200.20X Hyb. Very happy with the results. H4350 is good too, especially with a 175 OTM or 185 Jugg.
H4831sc was on my list, was curious about what people were getting for velocities and charge weights with the 200s and the 215s. What velocity are you getting with the 200.20xs?

2787fps from a 26".
This is what I got today trying a max load (highest charge I felt comfortable with and brass looked spotless). Not exactly a super consistent charge. Maybe h4831sc would be a better choice for my use. How's the temp stability of it compared to imr4831?

+R#22 with CCI 250, and IMR 7828 with fed 210 is where I started with Good accuracy and speed.

I ended up with R#25 with Win Mag primers for the win, some things you have to see to believe, wtih the foundation being Lapua brass. If you can ever find any LC Match brass from the 60's, the stuff is really tough and uniform.

168g Berger VLD hunting, Nosler long range accubonds were over 3000 fps with R#22 with cci 250s and some amazing groups, 26" Rem Long range factory guns.

The 190-200g with R25 with win mag primers, work up to the max load in your rifle, don't use crap for brass.

Current brass is Starline, I have played with rl22 with a fed210 primer with 165 sst. Accuracy was poor but It was before I had a chronograph.

How temp stable is rl25? And how is the case fill with it?

My Browning 270 A bolt, like the 210 with R#22(PMC brass proved the most accurate), is also the exception to the rule I found. 7 Mag, 280 and AI, 300 Win mag all loved hotter Mag primers with 22 in my barrels, while 7828 in the 7 Mag, 280, and AI loved the 210. In the 280 and AI, R#22 and 7828 have very close burning rates with some loads being interchangeable, but they demand different primers for those bug hole groups.

General Rules of Thumb, are just basic guidelines.
