Same here. Only Alliant I have seen available is RL16. I still have some RL 17, 19, and 22 put away. But when it is gone I need a back up. I use these in my 270wsm. 280ai. and 300wsm.
My Nosler cases compare favorably with the Peterson cases. Sierra has some interesting discussions on the burn rate charts. I've found Superperformance on one chart close to R19 and on another chart closer to H4831. As previously stated, it may be that H4831 with 160gr NABs is too slow for the 280AI, or it may require slightly more powder as I didn't test to max with the Peterson or Nosler cases. Using Fed210M primers so I'm certain that is sufficient.I haven't noticed that but I haven't looked that closely either. I think I am getting about 2950 FPS with 162 grain ELDX bullets. I am currently trying some N560 and, so far, the speeds are slower, around 2850 FPS. I don't have any specific published data to follow so I have a little more room to go up with powder. Just waiting for some nice weather. By the way, I am using Nosler Brass which is middle of the road in my opinion.
I am using H4831SC. Have you tried any Vhitavouri?
Thats quick. Hornady site has 3000 and nosler around 3100 with a 26". I was only able to get 3080 with the same load 24". R26 me to 3200 but I backed it off a tad.I'm getting 3168 with 62.9g H4831sc and 140 accubonds .020 off, Peterson brass CCI LRP, out of a 24" proof carbon

I myself don't much like going over book max, how about you? I'm getting to the point where if I get an acceptable load and speed why push the limits? I don't know, I guess it's good til its not is the philosophy I am starting to take..4g over book max and still under their listed speed actually
Nosler has 3177 with a 26". So thats prob closer to 3100-3125 with a 24". But hey if your brass is lasting a reasonable amount of firings send it. Peterson is pretty tough..4g over book max and still under their listed speed actually
59 gns of RL19, Nosler brass, 160gn Accubond with winchester LR primer gives me 2915 fps with no signs of pressure. My last elk didn't like that load. DRT at 200yds.I have been watching this post. I am looking at the Browning xbolt speed 280AI. And Savage ultralight 280AI. Haven't decided which one yet. I do have 10 pds RL19. Several pds of IMR 4831 H4831sc.

I'd sure look at the Kimber 84Ms. Lots of flavors. I'd probably go with the Mountain Ascent. Son got one in 338 Fed and I love it. Very light but a shooter. Heard horror stories regarding Jap Browning's over the years. My old BBR shot great, but I had issues with an Xbolt trigger years later. Got rid of it after spending $150 at LGS. Good luck! You're in good shape, then!
You can buy a Timney Trigger for X-bolt and install it yourself for $150. But I do agree the factory trigger is probably the weak point of the X-bolt.I'd sure look at the Kimber 84Ms. Lots of flavors. I'd probably go with the Mountain Ascent. The powders you have are perfect for the 280 AI. I have 3 x-bolts and one kimber hunter in 280 AI. All have taken elk in the past 3 years. The bullets I've used are Hammers in one form or another(130-143 gr) and the Barnes 145 LRX bullet. Velocity has been 3100 fps or more with the Barnes and over 3250 with the Hammers.I have been watching this post. I am looking at the Browning xbolt speed 280AI. And Savage ultralight 280AI.
