.270 Win Fast Twist= Needs Catchy Name

Isn't that what the 6.8 Western is?
Exactly, and "6.8 Western" is kind of catchy; but I like the sound of 270 Western better. I've been calling my .270 a "270" forever; so 6.8 throws me.
I've got a 1:8" twist .277 Hawk Hill barrel on order, and I'm looking forward to using it this hunting season 😊

How about bullet-disintegrator!
Just kidding, I'd love one. But recently looking at a 22 Creedmoor and I see that we have almost taken it to the limits! Heavy plus fast over 300k rpm equals the speed limit.
But reloaders are fine clever folk, I'm sure we'll use solids or something.
Could someone start working on this please? I refuse to believe we've reached the limit.

@ SSG,..
Just put, a 1-8 Twist on, a .270 WSM and shoot, the "Heavies",.. IF, you want more Powder, power and a sharper shoulder.
Winchester got, the .270 WSM, CASE, "Right" but without, the fast Twist, NEEDED for,.. the long Heavies !
Because with the 170 Berger the 270 wsm wont fit a SA. I love my 270 wsm. Its a flat shooting round to 650 yards with a 130. But when I wanted to do a 500+ yard rifle for out west rifle I went 7mag 8T with a 180 vld-h. I could get slightly better performance and knew it would feed well. And belts dont bother me. I figure theres stw's and belted mags on the higher side. But they all have excessive energy and recoil. Except the 6.5mm and 7mm rem mag. The 7mag is about perfect imo. But the rage is non belted cartridges with steeper shoulders and long necks. And I would agree those are improvements.
Shots over 1000 are rare. So build a cartridge able to deliver 1200#'s of energy to 1000. No excessive recoil. Something about like a 6.5 rem mag case capacity, but with a tad bit more bullet weight/energy, 170-190 gr range. A .7+ g1 bc bullet going 2950-3000 fps in .277. The 6.8 western will hopefully push manufacturers to come out with more high bc bullets. .277 needs its renaissance.

So two years ago I had a custom fast twist to 70 Winchester made. It was a 29 inch heavy heart barrel with an eight twist the chamber was made elongated so I could see a 150 grain Neisler LR bullet all the way out so that only a portion of the bul bullet was in the neck of the case. My first time out I shot a half inch group at 100 yards and an inch and a quarter group at 300 yards. Have not developed a final load for it yet and have not given it a funny name but it sure shoots nice on a big giant wooden Fajien target varminter stock

@ SSG,..
Since, I LOVE, Tikka actions,.. the longer case with, the Big & Longer Bullet's ARE, a NO Brainer for, ME !
Long action Tikka's, can handle, the Long, COAL, Cart's,.. FINE !
BUT,.. I just don't want, any more,.. Recoil,.. ( personally ) as,.. NO Brakie for, me !
So I'll stick with, my Fat boy,.. "Lazer"
IF, I want more, Recoil and "Range",.. I'd build, a .28 Nosler with, the 180's / 184's !
650 - 700 Yards are about, as far as I can make, a "good", Wind Call / Killing shot, on an Elk, anyway !

case did change a bit with the western. Here we are talking about essentially a barrel change to add heavy bullets.
And that's easy with all the great barrel makers today. I converted my 7mm mag to a Bartlein gain twist 1:9.2" to 1:8.7" and it can zing Berger 180gr & 195gr bullets. I'm testing monoliths.
