The fast twist is the minimum barrel twist recommendation to effectively stabilize the bullet you are going to use. For instance, a 1:8" twist rate is required for 175 Matrix VLD. My .270 AI has 30" Lilja barrel with 1:8" specifically built to propel the 165/175 Matrix VLDs, 170 Berger, and the long mono bullets. YMMV when it comes to velocity, you'll need to experiment the load configuration your barrel likes. The major change on the cartridge is the shoulder angle from 17.30 to 40 degrees.I would like to know more about the 270 fast twist, longer barrel, longer throat . what is the MV with a 130 gr.
what is done with the case is it changed?
This. name the rifle if you like.
How about calling it the 270 nitroSo its whole different cartridge with fast twist, longer barrel and longer throat. So why not give this old cartridge a catchy name for it. We have the .270AI so I think we need something to separate it from the standard cartridge. I am calling my new one .270 Heavy, got .270 Fatboy as suggestion. I am pretty sure the name was for the cartridge, I hope.
What do you think? PLEASE! No CM!
