26 Nosler????? !!!!!

tag. looking to build a 26 soon. love the idea of a fast 6.5. ill be happy if i can see a safe 3100 fps with a 140 gr.

3400+ fps is flying..man I'd like to see the drop sheet on a bullet that streamlined going that fast..point an shoot must be something. I'd be dammmm careful about not heating that barrel up and allowing it to cool some during bench time, that's a lot of powder being burnt in a very small bore...otherwise your going to clean the throat out in a hurry.

The 6.5x300 Weatherby mag is even faster than the 26.

By around 50 fps less if you're talking factory loaded ammunition.... and you're still stuck with belted brass...
May or may not be a problem, that's a debate in itself.... However, I'll take the stronger 404 Jeffery case.

id rather take the brass availability of the 26 anyways. way easier to find

You DO realize what the 6.5-300 is, right?
Not trying to be *that* guy.... but it's simply a 300 Roy necked down.
Show me where you CAN'T get that brass...lol
My problem is lack of non-custom dies right now.
Before the 26 and 28 Nosler were released you could order Redding or Hornady dies thru many vendors.

personally im not looking to form brass a few times to convert. i know others will. i dont have enough time to reload as it is

There's nothing to convert, sans running it into a sizing die, which you'd already be doing, unless you like run-out...

no experience running a parent case through a smaller die personally but ive talked to a few that have and have had to size more then once to get them to the correct size. but if it can be done in one shot then it really doesnt make a difference. 300 weatherby brass should be far more available then 26 nosler brass

26 brass is readily available, not cheap but its there. Midway recently had a sale on Nosler Factory ammo cheaper then what you could buy the brass for, so I gobbled up 5 boxes and should be set for brass for awhile.

Wow...a 30 inch drop at 500 yards...like nothing I ever shot or witnessed being shot... Say what you want but there's no way the barrel can last long producing that kind of velocity... I know their supposedly long throated but that's a massive amount of powder in my idiotic feeble aged mind !!

I would like to think my 264WM is ok at 130gr JLK VLD at 3231 fps with a 300 yard zero and mid range is 3.5 inches high and 20.8 inches low at 500 yards.
