26 Nosler????? !!!!!

Wow. That sounds more than a little dangerous. That sounds like a disaster in the making. Right down scary really. Maybe I'm just too conservative.

With the pressure levels he's gotta be running, he's already destroyed the action and set the lugs back....
Id gladly pay for a set of go/no go gauges for him and have him post a video showing his destroyed rifle.

You should try the Woodleigh 160gr PPSN it would be a hammer at 3300 or more. I have already pushed it to 3261fps with my 264.
Unless you have magic that the rest of us don't posses... LOL:)

3300 fps with the Woodleigh would be at about 68k PSI. A bit hard on the gun and very hard on the brass.

3261 fps with the 264WM would indicate pressures approaching 88k PSI

I have a request: could you put Fred Seaman in your will for all your guns and reloading stuff?:D

This is all in fun. There are so many variables in any particular rifle that you could safely be making 3200fps but we will not really know.

264WM... If you want name calling, I'm you're huckleberry.
What I said is the truth. EVERYONE here knows what we all deal with is essentially a pressure engine. You gotta GIVE to GET..... be it powder weight, pressure, barrel..... what have you.
However, no matter HOW you cut it, you're 3-400 fps OVER max. Look at the 7 mag data... somewhat lawyerized these days... yes, I will concede that. However, even my fathers Hornady manual from the copper crush test days could barely get a 7 mag to do 3150 on a 150 and a 160-168 grainer to 3k.

What I'm trying to get at is your on the right trac to blow your head off with over pressure loads. I'm guessing that there are folks here with 6.5 STWs that would struggle to get those numbers out of a 160 in theirs.

Tell ya what. You find me reputable load data for the 26 Nosler for 160s, and I'll see how far I can throttle them in the Western Hunter I have. Smart money says, I'll hit pressure LOOOOOONG before it hits 3000-3050.
Like I said the Hodgdon NO. 20 Manual has the Hornady 160gr round nose at 3067 fps with 71gr H570 in the 264wm and I could care less about the 7mm Rem Mag bigger dia equals more pressure.

I know. You don't care. That's why your running potentially 85k pound handloads thru your rifle.

Tell you what... here's a link on how to prolong that rifle of yours.

Until you can load a SAFE round in your weapon, run factory ammo.

Don't have a dog in this fight but do have a bit of info that presents pressures in psi and cup for the 160 gr bullets in the 264 Win Mag, I don't know how much better the H570 powder is at maintaining pressures levels while boosting velocity, over all the new fangled stuff,
I gotta say though, there is no magic to higher velocities just a lot more pressure and sometimes that ain't a good thing

So this last weekend I was able to get out with my new Browning Western Hunter in 26 Nosler. The barrel heats up pretty fast with this cartridge that's for sure. The only way I can get it to group is fire one round and let it cool off completely. I was shooting some Nosler factory ammo 140 accubonds and getting some speed out there load. Fired a total of 18 rounds with a combined average of 3392.5 and the last three averaged 3415. This seems pretty quick from what I have read on what other people are getting. I'm using a Pact Pro chronograph. I was going to load my own but Midway has Nosler ammo on sale for $44 a box so I got a total of 5 boxes. It was cheaper to buy it loaded then to buy the brass separate. Has anyone else seen results like this from there ammo, or do I just have a fast barrel? Its still on sale BTW if someone wants to get some from Midway.

Now that I have or will have a 100 pieces of brass I will be reloading from here on out. I have a box of 140 Bergers and just ordered some 143 ELD-X to try. Any suggestions on what has worked well for them, I appreciate any input.

I want to try US869 in both of my 26 Noslers, especially with the 140 ELD-X ... I've tried to find it around here, but sadly, it's nothing but a rumor. I've settled with RL33 and 50 with the 130s...

So Weatherby is claiming 3500 FPS and the 26 Nosler is 3400 fps . What's a 100 fps relative to all the other factors involved in making long shots ? I wish them both the best of luck .
