257 Weatherby with 128gr HH Data?

I am a heavy bullet fan. A .257 WBTY currently in the works to primarily shoot Berger's 133. As @Hoss50 noted, it has higher BC, less drop, and higher energy at POI. If the 133 Berger propels at 3000 FPS, at 900Y = 1912 FPS and 1080 FT=LBS.
As a heavy bullet fan....does that mean you buy cases twice as thick as normal for more weight too?🤣

Anyone have any updates on load data for this?

I have H1000 worked up to under 1/2" MOA but the velocity on my buddies cheaper Caldwell chrono showed 3025 which seems pretty slow for 70grs of H1000.

Any other thoughts on powders to try?

Well, been reading this and a bunch of others talking about heavy for caliber bullets. Still say it makes no sense. I can easily get 117 Horn to 3500 fos. Go up to 127 and your are down to 3000?. I can use a 300 WM or a 7 Rem with less powder and spit a 150 grain bullet easily at 3600 or 3400 fps. If you want to shoot heavier bullets move up the cartridge selection. Burning huge amounts of powder for no gain, and in most cases no where near the performance of other options, is just farting against thunder for the fun of it.

I'd try a different chronograph or maybe a different powder. My 25-284 with a 131 BJ out of a 25" Helix6 is going 3150 FPS. A 128 Hammer out of a Weatherby should be cooking! Most hammers will get an extra 100-150 FPS more velocity than a similar weight cup and core bullet. The BC on these heavy 25 caliber bullets is a game changer.

What twist and what barrel? I've been looking to get a new barrel, I've been looking at preferred with the carbon wrap

Not everything we do seems to make sense. I agree if I wanted one rifle I could do it with a fast twist in a 300 wm. But I like to have choices. What if one breaks at least that is what I tell my wife. And that is what she tells me when she gets another pair of shoes

Update.

I bought a lab radar. Here is the info. This is for MY Rifle, start lower. This load is on the spicier side I think.

257 Weatherby Mag
26" 1:7 twist barrel from Oregon Mountain Rifles
Norma Brass
128gr Hammer Hunter
70.0gr H1000
GM215M primer
3.50 OAL
3345fps
Lots of freebore.

Sub 1/2" MOA. The 3 copper bullets in the picture are a group at 500 yards.

The 3 lead bullets are 135gr Bergers @ 500yards with a starting load. Very accurate, but only 3140fps.

Run the velocity and energy numbers for both loads at 500Y and see what you get. Good luck!

I know the Berger will do better at longer ranges, I am going to develop that load too. The hunt I hope to draw here in the next few year though highly encourages all copper bullets. I also plan to use the hammers in this rifle for black bear and probably cow elk, so I want a bullet that is a little tougher than a Berger. Berger has done me well on cow elk before, but the hammer should give me some added toughness.
