25 PRC

Not .25-PRC, but on my initial pressure tests, 257 WBY with 22" barrel propels the 145 Black Hole at 3090 FPS with 67,5 of MagPro and 163 Chinchaga at 2915 FPS with 63.5 of H1000. There are no pressure signs, and more room remains to explore.
Now Ed, this fella wants a short-medium length action and 135gr bullets….he doesn't want long skinny brass and 115's like Me or 145+ like you! But he did say 22"🤣

Where did he say he wanted a short-medium-length action, or did he purchase the action? He is asking for thoughts on his project build; nowhere did I recommend that he build a .257 WBY. By the way, I am testing 163 now and will soon be testing the 180s.

If I were to build a .25-PRC, it would be a long action.

He could use a long action, for sure. With a 135 Berger seated neck depth he'd have all the room ever needed at 3.170-3.180 COAL.
Medium is 3.200ish but I don't think Pierce Eng offers one. Alex Wheeler had terrific velocity results at 3200+ with a SA.
ElJefe are you going to run suppressed? If not I'd definitely recommend at least 24" finished barrel length. Let it perform to its capability, and you can always slow it down if wanted. I'm in the process of putting together a .25 very similar to yours, with a 1.95" case, just waiting on the reamer. Good luck keep us posted.

Thinking about building one of these for a lightweight carry gun. If I am not mistaken Broz built one, but never did hear or read anything else about his thoughts on the caliber. My thoughts of build are the following
1. Pierce titanium action
2. Proof Sendero lite 22"
3. Ag or manners carbon stock
4. Hawkins bottom mag/flush mount
5. March scope 2.8x20x50mm
6. Shooting the 133 or 135 vld
Any thoughts or ideas on this build, I would like others opinions.
7. Use of gun would be used for hunting coues deer, mule deer, desert bighorn rams, and antelope
Jeff started with the .25 Creedmoor but change course to .25 PRC, but not sure if it is completed.

BTW, do not let anybody, including myself, to change your mind on what you really want to build.

Why 22"?

You have multiple options in this "ball park".

25x6.5prc
25x6.5prcSI
25sst
25x7prc
25SS
25Max
25 sherman
25-06AI

The ONLY advantage I see in a 25x6.5prc is lapua brass. Everything else I listed has more case capacity than the 6.5prc case if I remember correctly.

I think that 80gr of H2o capacity is the upper limit as far as efficiency goes in a .257" bore. And thats with a full size barrel of 26". Start chopping the barrel down and efficiency goes with it. I'm a "gain per grain" guy! I'd rather tote a folding stock chassis than neuter an overbore wildcat with a 18-22" barrel. Again that's my preference and opinion.

I would look into the 25sst and 25SS also. The 25sst has head stamped ADG brass.
The 25SS will outrun the 25x6.5prc OR run the same speed at lower pressure.

I'm at the coin toss part of building a 25max or 6.5max for west Texas whitetails, coyotes and hogs. I like head stamped brass so that's THE detractor to the 25max right now.

I have a 25 SST with a 26 inch barrel, I can't get past 3100 fps with H1000 without seeing pressure. It does fit nicely in a SA x sure.
Something's off. My 25sst, 26" rock creek and proof cf barrels will run the 131s at 3230fps with h1000.
I ran the 131s at 3270 with a 26" brux and the rock creek barrel using rl26

26" 25prc with Alex's reamer should get you around 3200 with the 133&135 bergers in a 26" so 3100 with a 22" using h1000 or n565

Slow barrel perhaps, it's super accurate with 135s so it doesn't worry me much.

You left out the very impressive and popular 25-284. 24" barrel pushing the 133 Bergers at 3200 fps. Very very good accuracy. In fact one hole groups around .30". I've since dropped speed to 3050-3100 for a bit better barrel life but as a hunting rifle, it won't lose it's life for a decade.

not ever thought about going that route. Think I am pretty well decided on building off of the 6.5 case
