I spent the first wet cold dreary dark day of winter (weather) studying up on the .256 Newton and it's creator, and realized that it's modern day successor is the 25-06. No wonder the 25-06 is so wonderous.

You can still buy his book I think.

Charles Newton, the grandfather of the high pressure cartridge. The 35 Newton was roughly fifty years ahead of the 358 Norma as I recall and they are pretty close in ballistics. Yes I have one.
