.243 or 6 Creedmoor for my daughters first rifle

She is definitely left eye dominant. So I'm on the right track. Again, I really appreciate all of the input. I think that I have decided to go with the 6 CM. The reason is because it is a bit shorter case that should do better with the long 105 or 115 bullets in the factory mag box.

Oh she is plenty old enough to make her own decisions and I did ask her before posting this. The answer I got was "Whatever you think is best, Dad. As long as it will kill deer, antelope, and coyotes." That's my girl!

.25 CM with the new Blackjack .257 131 ACE bullets. Blackjack also sells the proper 7.25" twist barrel blanks at their online store.

I actually thought about that option. But, all of the barrels that they showed on their site were heavy contour. This rifle needs to be lighter weight. Maybe in the future I'll build one for myself.

Contact Miles over at Blackjack and see if he can get you a sporter contour barrel in while he's waiting on his Bartlein order to come in, before his order from Bartlein ships, they might can make you a 3B fluted .257 blank with the 7.25" twist and include it in his currently pending shipment... Which would be perfect for a lightweight build.

A wildcat as a first rifle that for LR has basically one bullet offering by a relatively small new the company vs 2 super popular factory offering cartridges in 6 mm that has one of the largest selections of bullets for all types of shooting and ranges??? I understand having a darling caliber and being excited about new possibility but it does not make a logical choice here.

Plenty of other good 25 cal bullets available too, Nosler Sierra, Berger, etc

I bought my 12 year old a Tikka .243 and load for her. The lite is awesome, and even better when put in an XLR chassis. She is shooting 1/2 MOA out to 600 now and got drawn for her first mule deer this year. Great caliber for the young. She loves to shoot and I have to slow her down so she doesnt burn the barrel out to quick.

I have one in a laminate stock. What's yer load?

Her hunting load is a 95g Berger Classic Hunter sitting on 35.2g of H4895 at .030 off the lands. Norma brass neck sized for 1 thousands tension and FGMM primers. This is giving a consistent @.45 group at 100m at 2730fps. When I do my part a little tighter. Pretty good for a Hunt load.

Target load is 70g SMK on 36g H4895, all else being the same. This is running 3060fps and consistent 1/4 moa at 100m

We run a Witt Machine brake so there is almost no kick for her.
