230 gr in a 10 twist

is anyone shooting 230 bergers in a 10 twist ? I know its not optimum, but will it stabilize 230 otm s ?

I shot 230's for a while in a 3 groove 10 twist Lilja barreled 300 win mag. I got consistent 1 MOA groups without keyholing and saw one mule deer get shot with it and it absolutely hammered it. That was back when Berger had "1-10 minimum" printed on the box. I switched to the 210VLD and 212 ELDx and saw consistently better results which prompted a change.

I'm shooting 230s to .5moa or better at 600 yards in a 10 twist Muller.

I shot a red hind at 610 a few months back with a perfect pass through.

230 OTM out of a 1-10 out of my RUM. 2913 FPS with a 26" Lilja. Same as Slick8, .5 moa and better.

Same here with my 1-10" twist Lilja on my 300 RUM, 2950 fps with the Berger 230, .5 moa 3 shot groups at 1K, sometimes .4 moa.

I'm out of town and dont have all my data but my 25" barrel 1/10 twist long range put together 300 Rum seems to like the 230 bergers & Nv570 @ 3036 ft.per.sec. Worked great out to a mile on a milk jug !

No it's not I had a pile of once fired Nosler 210 ablr for a Sendero 300 Rum .
They seem to work so far .
I typically use Remington 300 Rum Brass for all my 338 Edges .
I will try some Adg brass when I stumble on to it .

The best shooting 300 Norma Improved I have owned yet was a 10 twist Krieger with 230s.

In my opinion the faster you spin bullets more than necessary it hurts jacket integrity which equates to lower accuracy.

I'm actually switching back from a 1:9 twist to a 1:10 for the 230 OTM.

I was previously running the 215 hybrid. Running my actual numbers through the Berger twist calculator, the 230 OTM is actually more stable than running the 215 Hybrid.

Don't fear a little extra twist. I tend to prefer a stability ratio around 1.8. I have over twisted a lot of bullets with excellent accuracy. It also helps them open. For example, my 280ai with 168 vlds is an 8.5 twist. Well over 2 stability factor. It kills elk well and has shot a pile of 3 shot 1.5"s and under at 600yds.
