.204 Ruger for Coyotes, what is your opinion?

I shoot only the Berger 35 gr out of my 204 remington sps that rifle is strictly for predator hunting on the fur friendly side of things.
Good round for sure,@3829 fps and a BC of 0.179 it will reach out there and touch something.Tomorrow I'm switching to that round for summer shooting, and need to do a quick re-sighting .

Yes I did I only use that rifle for predators only. If the weather isn't too bad that's what I mainly use, I also use a Rock River AR 223 loaded with 50 gr hollow points if its a little more windy out. Is shot a few bobcats with that set up also last year.

I have some of the 500ct 34gr [nosler] midsouth bullets. I dont like the bc on them. I going to try the 40gr Berger bullets this yr too.

My gun has shot the 35 and 40gr Berger bullets very good. I also shot the 39gr bking too. They shot very good too. Fixing to try a few 30gr.

The b.c. on my 32-gr V-Max is only .210 but I couldn't care less. I need to dial up only 7 moa to for 500 yards and 8.75 moa for 600 yards. My buddy has an electronic target that will tell you the velocity as the bullet passed through the target. At 600 yds the 32's averaged 1,529 fps over 12 shots.

So the b.c. may not be impressive but the performance sure is. I wouldn't want to be trying to hit a coyote with it past about 400 yards, though. And I'd use the 40's.

I shoot a 32 grain V-max made by HSM ammo ,it equates to 4020 fps with a BC of 0.275 I wouldn't hesitate to cap a yote at that range,I'm still cruising @2200+ fps ,and packing 350 ft pounds,a drop of 24 inches is nothing.I shot a coyote in the poop chute at 110 yds and it blew the first foot of his innards out the bottom and mushed the topside as shown in picture.I shot one yote with that round at a lasered 1340 feet, and dropped him drt, farthest shot to date with 204.

A fast twist .223 with a 77g RDF has been the least destructive I have found on hides. Run that bullet out of a .223 and a .22BRA, with minimal damage.

I had a CZ 527 Varmint model 204 for awhile and for a factory rifle, it shot extremely well. Sold it to a good friend of mine awhile back and he's been slaying coyotes with it ever since. I think all he ever shoots is factory Hornady 32gr Vmax Superformance ammo.
I have shot several coyotes with the 204. The 32 gr hornady is a poor choice for coyotes in my opinion. I experienced several splash shots on coyotes. I now use 40gr hornady vmaxs with a lot better kill ratio. In most cases coyotes hit with the 40 grainers do not travel far or die right where they are hit. Experience is the best teacher, believe me 32 grainers are great for prairie dogs and small animals not coyotes.
