2024 Meat Pole

Northern Utah, Cache unit. Opening day/morning buck on Oct. 19th.
Spotted at 600 yards, got to within 180 yards for the shot with my 6.5 Creedmoor. 125 Hammer HHT at 2,920 fps. Slightly angled through the lungs. You can see the entry on the right side in the photo below. Ran 20 yards, flipped over and that was it.
My buddy in Utah just picked up my Euro skull mount this weekend and sent the photo below.
Nice work on that euro mount, mine never come out that white, any trade secrets there ?

So far this year off our place.....

That kunekune is some amazing eating, by far the best pork I've ever eaten

This has been a phenomenal season for me so far. Being in the south, our season is really just gettin goin good. But it's been my best, even if we stop now.
First, my 14 yr old is already an accomplished bow hunter, having killed truck loads of doe deer and hogs. But beginning bow season this year, he arrowed his first buck, a classic river bottom 8. It's an accomplishment that he or I will never forget. Meanwhile, my 5 yr old has developed a love for the smell of burnt gunpowder only equaled by me…. She'll shoot as long as I'll load the magazines. In November, she's decided it's her time to shine. On her first set, we encountered a small doe at 137 yards, I really had low expectations. (I expected wrong). When the 57grain projectile with a mv of 4000fps left the barrel, it was an instantaneous bang flop! The high fives commenced and celebrations were of multitudes.
A day later, during Christmas pictures, she proceeded to tell the photographer to hurry up! That she had to get home to go huntin! Which, of course, made my heart swell with pride. Of course the time was slim and the day was rushed. When we made it to the blind, we were later than I'd want to be. But her spirits were high and that's all that mattered. Again, with low expectations, several does made there way across the strip we were watching, at a distance I was quite nervous with I might say,,,,,,,
with a loud "meh" , one of the does stopped, and before i could say squeeze slow, the shot rang out, and at 187 yards, my 5 yr old 10ringed her 2 deer ever in 2 days.
Now, to add more excitement to my story, my son is a regular watcher of Tim Wells and his escapades. He's wanted to kill a deer with a spear for over a year now. And as of last weekend, he has accomplished this task. I don't know how many 14 yr old boys have killed a whitetail with a spear, but I suspect it's few.
Perched in a lockon stand, 18ft above the ground, in a place frequented by deer, he successfully put the slockmaster spear through a young doe. Securing his position in the record book (at least in our neck of the woods).
I really don't know how a father could be more proud than I am at this point.

I always enjoyed watching Tim Wells myself. Slightly crazy but I think most of us are! 🤪

Took it to a local guy in Richmond, UT that does the Euro mounts. His name is Rocky and he is a super cool guy and a world class hunter.

Seemed like a lot of people use him. My buddy who picked up my mount said he toured the shop and Rocky was using a bunch of beetles/bugs of some sort to clean the skulls. I'm in California and will hopefully get back up to Utah soon to see the skull in person. He sure processed it quickly, in 30 days or so.

I record the shows. Enjoy watching him and family also.
Unfortunately we cut out our cable (because of the outrageous bill) so I haven't watched in quite a while. I liked watching because it wasn't trophy oriented like most of the others and they used spears, archery gear and yes even blow guns!

I agree. Funny, this morning I just went with smaller channel package with Dish. They have it worked out if you want Fox News or Newsmax you have to get news pak. Local channel pak to get Fox. Abc,NBC, cbs, etc. Only want Fox for football , nascar, etc. $14 for local channels. $10 for news pak. Lowest channel pak $68. What a scam
