I'm sure that Len will start a 2020 Meat Pole competition (maybe we can move the content later). I can't wait, let's see how everyone is doing this year. All of my buddies have had pretty bleak reports this year (sounds about right considering 2020 antics). Maybe it's weather, maybe it's the moon, I have my own theories on increased pressure by more non-residents and newbies moving and educating critters).
Anyways, despite some challenges that were presented to me mid-season, I persisted and was very fortunate to have found success. Most importantly, I contributed towards the success of a few friends that are new to hunting (and are HOOKED).
My solo elk

My last day buck (spent a lot of my deer season helping others). Very fulfilling considering that I had one of the newbies with me who was excited to experience another harvest.

One friends first solo backpacking buck. I've been mentoring him since last spring turkey. His brother flew out from the East coast to experience it with him. They earned it the hard way.

My other buddy. First morning out. He's very appreciative of the experience and tagged along for my deer just to get more of it.

Wasn't able to make it out west this year, but did well on small property on the east coast. Bear and 8 pt with archery. My biggest whitetail with archery and first bear with archery. Heading to IN for Firearm opener next week. Cant wait to get out with a rifle.

This year started out with high hopes for a trophy mule deer. Missed him with my bow back in September, and spent 7 hard hunting days looking for a big one but never found him. At least the freezer is full which is the bottom line for me and my family.

WYO meat buck, last day neck shot dragging distance to the road no meat wasted

Komifornia trophy spork buck only had a few days of legal hunting with the forest fires. Another neck shot aged him whole in the walk-in for some delicious eating.

young boar, trotting neck shot not intentional this time but sure is nice when they drop like a ton of bricks and no meat is wasted

archery bear young sow good eating also died close to the road and made a trip to the walk-in cooler for some aging

the one that got away. Jumped the string at 58 yards and lives to tell the tale. Hopefully he makes it through the winter to next year!

Still looking for one of these antlered jokers. But our early bear season was pretty good this is my youngest son with his 240 lb bear treed by the two dogs in the photo.

Here are most of the animals that we guided this year. Had a good year and a really fun group of folks in this year. Disclaimer I didn't shoot any of these but they did use my gun on three animals, so that's always fun.

First day in indiana. Parents farm really isnt that great for deer hunting, but yesterday it was. Meaning the last deer i shot was 20 years ago when walking to the woods. I spent a ton of time in one particular stand site in high school and yesterday i finally killed a deer from it after hunting there off and on for 25 years. Double lunged him, gave him an hr, went out and he jumped up 75 yd from where i shot him. Waited 7 hrs and went out and tracked him. Went about 250 yds total. Not really sure what to do with myself heading into opening day of firearm this saturday and only have doe tags left.
