.2-.3 100 yard cold bore challenge

Hope I'm not laughed out out this thread but here goes. This is from a R700 long range completely factory stock 7mm rem mag. My first and only bolt gun so far. Shot off bench with literally sand bags I took of our levee from last yrs flood not anything fancy like most use lol. 168g SMK's rt at 3000fps avg with SD roughly 6fps. Not the fastest load probably but seems to like it. I've done a couple 3 shot bugholes but this is 6 shots, clean barrel, no foulers and cold bore.

Apparantly still learning to attach pics to post lol. My apologies. May not be as good as some groups posted here but like I said I'm not the most experienced shooter so that's probably some of it too.

Pulled this one out of the safe, hasn't been shot in a couple months. 260ai, rem ti action, manners eh1, frozenfibre 8 twist barrel. Pushing 140vld-h with some 4831sc. Only three shots, Cold bore was the middle shot. Needs a couple clicks up, otherwise ready to go hunting again. Next time I will drop 5 shots in there.

Nice shooting guys.

Went out again the other day to try some heavier bullets in my 6.5 Creedmoor.

These are 3 shot groups at 100yds.

Top left is Hornady Precision Hunter 143 ELD-X Factory Ammo, I labeled the card wrong.

The others are Standard Copper Creek Loads in Lapua Brass with small rifle primer. No load development.

Yes, the Hornady Precision Hunter 143gr ELD-X can be found just about anywhere.

The others are Standard Copper Creek Ammo loads in Lapua Brass with small rifle primers. All you have to do is go to Copper Creeks web site and order what you want.

Went to the range after work and reading this post. Savage 12FV 6.5 creedmoor. 135 hornady atips in lapua small rifle primer brass. 41.1 grains of RL16. Had one flyer on shot 4. The other 5 in the group averaged 2826.

Should have used a .300 RUM. My son-in-law just showed me a target he fired at 300 yards. It measured .708". I think he has a Bushnell 6500 4 1/2-30X50 'cause I used to have three and now I only have two. :)

This 308 holds a special place in my heart. A Browning1919 barrel. Chambered in 308. VZ 24 action.

Berger 180 Elite Hunter. 2605 fps. 5 shot including cold bore. This morning. 100 yds.

Then went over to 500. Two shots on pig. Then third head shot on yellow man.

I'm partially trolling but also very serious: why is the group not on top of the target? This is a very common thing to see on the forum(s), but I'm not sure if the reason is
- There is wind
- The setup is not holding zero
- Position/hold is not consistent
- The shooting distance is not the zeroing distance
- People adjust their scope off before shooting to save the target center
- Something else; what?

A good group in the wrong place is not any better than a poor group in the right place.. 🤨
